New Mum Jessica Alba found time to take a breather from baby duties to sit down with Cosmpolitan and chat about her pregnancy, wedding and childhood. Here are the highlights:

  • On her pregnancy: "I never felt less sexy. I mean, I wouldn’t have changed it for the world … but I wanted to get rid of all the weight."
  • On traits she hopes Honor Marie doesn’t inherit: "I’m a busybody and always look to the future rather than the moment. I hope she doesn’t get that."
  • On men and women: "I don’t like double standards. I’d never use a man for sex but I can understand why some women would – I don’t see why they should be criticised for having the same attitude as men."
  • On her surprise at how her life has turned out: "I never thought I’d find a man before 30, let alone marry him and have his baby. I always used to meet the wrong guys – the ones who wanted to hang out for a week and see how far they could get. If you didn’t have sex in the first few days, you were either frigid or a lesbian. So I held out – and, boy, am I glad I did!"

  • On her wedding: "It was very romantic, Cash designed the ring himself … we’re not a typical Hollywood couple. I love that he’s not an actor. I’m way too high maintenance to be in a relationship with an actor – they’re all such divas! They take longer in hair and makeup than I do. Cash believes, as I do, in taking life as it comes. Nothing was planned – the pregnancy or the wedding – but he took it in his stride and convinced me we’d conquer all!"
  • On growing up: "The first time I joined a church I was 12, and the pastor didn’t like me as he thought I dressed too sexily! Can you believe it? I was supposedly responsible at 12 for tempting men … I was such a late starter and didn’t even have a boyfriend until I was 18. I was genuinely innocent – and yet I was meant to be tempting men … That is why I’ve played kick-ass girls in the past – it’s like a release. I can leave the character at the door. I’m a total nerd at heart. If I’m not working, I spend the day in my PJs. I’ve never been desperate to be out there at parties, or to be playing the dating game … My ideal night, though, is to have friends over for dinner and to play board games."
