There have been changes in the appearances of the High School Musical cast since the first TV film aired on the Disney Channel in 2006, especially in the case of the gorgeous Zac Efron, now 20, who now walks the red carpet as a bona fide teen idol. Hundreds of screaming fans agreed that he was looking suavely handsome in London's Leicester Square last night for the High School Musical 3: Senior Year premiere, alongside his similarly photogenic onscreen and offscreen girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens and their costars Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu.

Love it or hate it, the HSM phenomenon is absolutely enormous, advance ticket sales for this movie in the UK are above £800,000 and will be close to £1 million by the time the film shows at cinemas on October 22. A variety of stars that brought their children or just themselves out to the premiere last night — Gordon and Tana Ramsay brought along their brood, as did Jason Donovan, Mel Blatt, Gail Porter and Jonathan Ross. The Saturdays didn't need children as an excuse to pop along to see the movie, and neither did Alesha Dixon who spent the evening of her 30th birthday at the event!
