For as long as I can remember, there's been a special edition of Top Of The Pops on television on Christmas Day. Even after the main show was cancelled after running for 42 years, we were still able to watch out favourite (and not so favourite) pop acts from the last twelve months performing classic and half-remembered hits on the afternoon of December 25. But today comes the news that the BBC is cancelling the Xmas version of the show! A BBC spokesman said this:

"This year it was felt that pop music would be better represented over Christmas by an eight-part series of TOTP2 that will reflect some of the year's key hits and possibly the Christmas Number One."
While I'm sure I'll watch this series of TOTP2, there's still part of me that's going to miss the Christmas Day special. So I'd like to know what you think — do you care that Christmas Top Of The Pops is cancelled? Let me know!

um, when i was growing up, totp was pretty much banned in our house...
1WHY?? i love TOTP
2I do miss TOTP a lot, but I never really paid attention the Xmas one.
3I remember watching the Christmas TOTP when it was Mr Blobby... otherwise never was a fixed family viewing... Christmas number one doesn't really exist now due to the all singing reality show.. currently called the X Factor....
4yup me too, i miss it, it was like the only music show in Britain that the whole family would watch, my mum said it used to keep her on the ball of music, now she cant sing along to the new songs {guess it was a blessing it canceled really ;$
