Well, if Austin's departure in week four was a shock, then what about Laura White's departure from The X Factor on Saturday night? Many of us were surprised about the result in our live blog.
She was one of the favourites to win, but Laura was in the bottom two with Ruth, and her own mentor Cheryl Cole was the only judge to save her. That wasn't the only shock of the night: Diana Vickers didn't perform because of laryngitis, so she was excused from Saturday's show.
Mariah Carey mentored the acts this week, and performed "Hero" during the results show with the finalists.
I want to know your thoughts, so tell me: did the right act leave this week?

1I can't believe Laura and Ruth were in the bottom two instead of Daniel Evans and JSL (that "One Sweet Day" rendition was awful).
2I don't like Eoghan that much but I think he did quite well this week. I've only seen the youtube live performances, nothing else about the show, was Diana really that sick? if so then it was nice of them to allow her not to perform. I'd have loved to see her sing a Mariah song, maybe she'll get another chance.
And I'm a big Mariah fan but I wish she was less apathetic, I almost fell asleep during her "I stay in love" performance.
How they think Ruth would be a better recording artist than Laura I don't know.. But they both shouldn't of been in the bottom two...
I wish ITV would allow us to vote for the act we don't like...
3If the decision was to be on that week's performance, then Rachel should definitely have been the one to go. She was out of tune during most of her song, but none of the judges mentioned this - why? They have been very quick to pick it up when others have been out of tune. JLS weren't brilliant this week, so they should have been the other group in the bottom two. For once, Daniel made a good job of his song, so it was right that he went through this week but, to be honest, he shouldn't have made it through on previous weeks. As Diana was unable to perform this week, I think that it would have been fair to vote no one off this week and next week vote off two when Diana will be back.

5I can't believe Laura left; the girl annoyed me but she has an incredible voice! Daniel, Ruth and especially JSL are far from having her talent.

7I'm not really a fan of Ruth or Laura, so I'm not really disappointed. At this point I'm not really surprised either, people are voting very 'interestingly' this year. But, still, Daniel needs to go home!
8no way! i don't really watch it that much but i could see from what i've seen that laura was the best singer and i thought she would win hands down....i'm really shocked that none of the other judges kept her apart from cheyrel i think they get caught up in its more about them and they want to squash the chances of them getting beaten, i think they thought laura was the main threat....
9daniel or ruth should have gone, im not sure how dannii still has all of her acts!!!
