On last night's The X Factor Britney Spears mimed her way through a performance of "Womanizer". Celebrity audience member James Corden spoke out about it on Xtra Factor last night, acknowledging the talents of the contestants in comparison to those of Britney. During his interview with Holly Willoughby, he said,
"Yeah, the song sounded great, but I've already got the CD, so I didn't need to see someone come out and mime it..."
But what do you think — would you prefer that stars sing live or not at all? And do energetic dance routines factor in to whether you are bothered? Let me know!

James Cordon was spot on, the hype her for appearance was so huge, to come out and not even sing is ridiculous. All the contestants in the show sang live twice, with most doing dance routines and none of them have years of training, experience and management like Britney, Alexandra in particular made Spears look second rate!
1I get why they do it, but I don't see the point in watching someone mime. Although to be fair on Britney she isn't the first X-Factor guest to mime, they've all done it this series. It's just that Britney was more obvious.
2I don't think she mimed - I think it was exactly like her last to perfomances: she is singing with a back drop... the back drop is unfortunatly turned so much up that you cannot hear her singing - if you listen carefully (especially with the perfomances in Germany and France) you can actually hear her once in a while. And I would personally like to see someone doing that dance rutine while singing wihtout a back drop...
3But I could be wrong...
captain obvious strikes again
4Sorry but it was really bad miming aswell, can't say she was dancing cos she was just walking up and down the stage, and she should be able to do that and sing at the same time all the training she has had. It was a very poor performance on X factor.
5I don't mind artists miming if they've got a decent dance routine, but to neither sing live nor dance is pathetic. And it was the exact same non-performance she gave in Berlin and Paris earlier in the week. What exactly was she getting paid for??
6I agree with kaycoo, if the dance routine is particularly difficult and visually impressive then I don't care if the act mimes. But if they're not going to put on a show then what is the point. I think a lot of people will be more forgiving of Britney because of all of this drama surrounding her, but I don't think she should have gone on a *singing* contest show and expected to just waltz in and out with a weak mimed performance.
7hmm, i know she mimed and i get why some people do when they are dancing hard, i h8 to say it but Britney wasn't exactly jigging about so much that shed lose her breath..., but it was wicked she came over, and i was excited to see her perform.
