Newly long-haired Lily Allen was settling back into London life yesterday after her holiday in St Barths, popping out in the cold weather in her denim shorts and tights combo, with rumours of an engagement ring circulating too! After her recent mini war of words with Katy Perry, she's landed herself in some more controversy after making comments about drugs in a recent interview. Making it clear she no longer takes them herself, Lily said:

"The only story is that drugs are bad and they will kill you — you will become a prostitute, a rapist or a dealer. But that's not true. I know lots of people that take cocaine three nights a week and get up and go to work everyday, no problem at all. But we never hear that side of the story. I have no statement to make, I just wish people wouldn't sensationalise this thing that just exists."
Lily's known for being outspoken, but what do you think about her comments? Let me know.

Stupid and totally irresponsible.
1What a stupid thing to say. Keep on snorting your lines, Lily.
2Hmmm wellll I kind can of see what she means (or hope she does), in that if cocaine was maybe described as a low-key everyday experience, people would be less fascinated by it.
This being said, I wish she'd just shut up when she doesn't have anything to say. To me that's not being outspoken, that's being dumb.
3I'm sure many celebrities do cocaine, however, they can afford it and don't have to commit crimes in order to pay for their addiction
4She is a moron. She is obviously stupid, spoiled, has not knowledge of anything whatsoever and thinks she is smart and controversial. Please.
5Are we really this naive?
She's right, where do you live? There are functioning users all around us, some choose illegal substances, others have them prescribed or mixed by a bartender.
Churchill, Kennedy, hell any great leader was under the influence at given times.
6I think she inspires debate and there is nothing wrong with that.
well any time that people talk about that stuff they get into trouble - so i guess it's just smarter to keep your mouth shut don't you think?
7she's completely right. the media just hates it when they've failed to brainwash someone.
ps to the haters: she's not trying to be 'outspoken', she's just telling the truth. you guys should get your facts straight. . . . or maybe blow $80 at a bar and puke your brains out the next morning. that's good for you.
8i dont know if she's talking about herself... but what she said is true. there are people who include cocaine as a part of their life and think nothing of it. actors, models, etc. cocaine is glamourized in hollywood but you never hear about them doing it until they get CAUGHT.
9while that may be true, saying that drugs can be a good or bad thing would make it extremely hard for parents to protect their children in the free world... theres one good reason not to tell 'that side of the story' too frequently. they might be ok for some (or even helpful? i have no idea) but we don't know to what degree, and what percentage of the population can realistically avoid the downward spiral of addiction....
10it's obvious cocaine is damaging to anyone it's used continually over an extended period of time, even if they're functioning addicts it's bound to take it's toll on their body eventually. it's a foreign substance after all. that being said, she is completely right. i think when she says "but that's not true" she's referring to becoming a prostitute or drug dealer, in that sense she didn't say doing cocaine is neither "good" nor "bad".
i understand not wanting to rationalize cocaine use to your children, but overcompensating by exaggerating the effects and outcome and not being completely honest about it simply promotes ignorance. i was addicted to cocaine for about 3 years, and at the start i did view doing cocaine glamorous (as watermeloncandy said). we as a society have put cocaine up on a pedestal, we've mystified it -- this is intriguing to young adults looking to rebel.
11*damaging to anyone IF it's used
12shes rite - u have a choice ......... become and addict or just enjoy what u think u mite be enjoying .... it is damaging though ...
13She's right, media tend to project a very polarized image of users.
14In the end of the day they just make drugs more popular and even more overrated.
I'm actually surprised that there wasn't a statement from her publicist faster - it begs the question 'Is all publicity good publicity?"
I think if everybody had some experience with the horrible effects of drug use & abuse, they would feel the same and agree with the media portrayal of drugs -
How can anything that causes all manner of mental illness, families to be ripped apart and death etc, EVER be taken lightly??
