As expected, Eighties pop band Spandau Ballet announced yesterday they are to reform with a comeback tour. Martin Kemp, Steve Norman, Tony Hadley, John Keeble and Gary Kemp announced the news on board HMS Belfast, confirming that the world tour will kick off in the autumn in Dublin on 13 October, with eight dates in the UK and Ireland. I'd love to know what you think of the news, so let me know: are you excited Spandau Ballet have reformed?

I'm pretty old and loved Spandau Ballet - I was one of the slightly more niche Spands fans, as opposed to a Duranie. But the thing that made Take That's return so wonderful was they were still fairly young and sexier than ever, so they came back as a real band, not a self-tribute band. I'm afraid SB are just a cabaret act, now, so for that I'm a tiny bit embarrassed. The Rolling Stones aren't quite the same because they never stopped. But this is more of a dad thing and more of a cynical thing.
That said, it's nice they patched up their differences, I loved these songs, and I wish them well and hope they make some money.
1Couldn't care less.
2Snap BigD.
3I don't know if they still have "it".
Many old bands reform just to make money, and there's no life in their projects involved, the spark from former times seems to have go missing during the hiatus.
