Prince William and the Royal family joined politicians at St Paul's Cathedral today for a commemoration service to formally mark the end of combat operations in Iraq. They led the nation in honouring Forces members who served and died in Iraq, and the Archbishop of Canterbury spoke about the war. Wills stood with Prince Charles and Camilla, and the Queen was joined by Prince Philip, Prince Edward and Sophie. Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Tony Blair were amongst the politicians at the service, and Jodie Kidd also paid her respects.

This must have been such a ceremony of mixed emotions - happiness at the troops who have returned but then such sadness remembering those who haven't. Such amazing men and women.
1completely agree munchkin, our lads and ladies don't get the recognition they deserve, it makes me so angry that some seem to forget we have our own people fighting thousands of miles away, IE. our politicians who only seem to care about saving their own skins about the expenses scandal, i mean I'm a teenager and feel like I'm more on par with the most important things more than a 50 year old labour politician, they all seem to be so sleazy. At least we have the royal family who always seem to be celebrating our soldiers and remembering them, plus they have harry who actually fought over there, i can't see many of our politicians stepping up to the plate like that.
