Is there any part Alan Dale won't tackle? We grew up with him as Jim Robinson on Neighbours, then he appeared on The O.C. and Ugly Betty Stateside, and now he's excited to be on our turf playing King Arthur! The New Zealander is treading the boards in the West End production of Spamalot at the Palace Theatre, and he looked like he was loving the costume at the press night yesterday. He shared a kiss with co-star Nina Söderquist for the cameras but I'm sure his wife Tracey wouldn't have minded — he was in character, after all! Lovebirds Darius Danesh and Natasha Henstridge were at the performance, as were Neil and Christine Hamilton, who'd been at the TRIC Awards that afternoon. Marc Bannerman also showed up, and from the size of his smile I think he's getting over his split with Cerys Matthews.

I saw Spamalot (which is based on the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail) last October and it was hilarious. It has a laugh-out-loud script and it's a real treat when comedy like that is combined with first-class singing. I'd be interested to see the musical again with Alan in the lead role this time — I wonder what his accent's like ...
