Today in Los Angeles, Cate Blanchett walked the red carpet looking ultra stylish in a black and white Alexander McQueen dress, Christian Louboutin heels and a Roger Vivier bag for the premiere of her latest movie Blue Jasmine. However, her slicky, deep side-parted hairstyle and bold red lipstick that she paired with defined eyes and punchy, pink cheeks is really what stood out. Shop everything you need to recreate her makeup look here and leave a comment to let me know what you think of her simple, yet traffic stopping beauty style.
If Edie Campbell is getting a big head from all the Fall 2013 campaigns she's landed (Lanvin, Marc Jacobs, and Jil Sander, to name a few), you can't tell in her adverts for Alexander McQueen. Among the many things she wears in the shots, which were taken by photographer David Sims, she dons the metal, pearl-studded head cage McQueen models sported on the runway. And even though she said she felt "not human" walking around in it, she thinks it's beautiful.
McQ's resort collection feels neatly organised into separate sections, each with their own theme, inspiration, and genesis. For starters, there are the '90s-rave inspired pieces — boldly printed pieces with buckles at the thigh and upper ankle that felt descended from the straight jacket. Him-for-her crystallised in two different iterations, with the sleek tux being turned into an elegant vest, and another grouping taking direction from men's bespoke smoking jackets and cravats. Suffice it to say, strong women that prefer strong clothes, rather than anything too frothy, will be pleased.
It's been quite the week for the Prestige division of megabrand Procter & Gamble. First, Stella McCartney signed a new beauty deal with them, and now, Jonathan Akeroyd, president and chief executive of Alexander McQueen have just inked a deal to collaborate on a mens and womens fragrance together. It's not the first time the British fashion house has tried their hand in the world of fragrance however. The first go round was licensed within the YSL Beauté group in 2003 with a scent called Kingdom, and in 2005, My Queen was also released, but neither fragrance took off and have since been removed from the market.
WWD reported a statement from Akeroyd earlier today saying "It’s really exciting for us. We’ve been taking our time to re-enter the market, to make sure we picked the right partner at the right time. The brand wasn’t mature enough then, but it’s quite well known that our business has grown."
Apparently Sarah Burton is also expected to play a part in the creation of the juice, but no further details have been released. Are you excited to find out what the next fragrances from Alexander McQueen will smell like?
If there's one couple we (always) keep close style tabs on, it's definitely Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Yesterday, the royal pair celebrated their second wedding anniversary, and while it feels like yesterday that we were floored by her custom Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress, their second year as husband and wife has been filled with superchic — not to mention, monumental — moments for both. While Kate has become a master of high-low styling, favouring everything from Topshop and Whistles to Jenny Packham and Alexander McQueen, William is just as good at donning a cool mix of dapper suits and more casual fare. Lest we forget, the couple is expecting their first child in July, which means we're on baby bump watch, too! To fete William and Kate's wedding anniversary, we've rounded up their best fashion moments in the two years since tying the knot. Here are more than 150 photos to commemorate.
We've seen little of the expecting Duchess since she's announced the news of her pregnancy, but what we have seen, are photos of Kate walking around Chelsea and Glasgow clad in plaid. From a Diane von Furstenberg coat to a bespoke Alexander McQueen coat dress, a Zara cape and most recently a grey and navy tartan number from Moloh (all of which are non-maternity), take a look at what Kate Middleton has been wearing in the UK to keep her growing royal belly safe and warm. At the end of the photos, don't forget to take a moment to vote on which piece of outerwear you like best.
With awards season upon us, one trending evening style is black and gold gowns. Just look at Kate Hudson wearing Alexander McQueen to the Golden Globes, Naomi Watts also wearing Alexander McQueen to the People's Choice Awards, Helen Mirren in Badgley Mischka at the Globes and most recently, Alesha Dixon was pictured yesterday at the Britain's Got Talent auditions in Cardiff. Shop long black gowns with serious gold embellishments, slits, cutouts and all kinds of coolness below and let me know which dress you like best.
This month is all about the Olympics, so that's reflected in my wardrobe with sporty offerings from the likes of Stella McCartney and Ashish for Topshop. Festival season continues, making ingenious Hunter wellies top on my list, while the latest British It bag from Alexander McQueen has got me salivating. New beauty buys from the National Trust, MAC, Chanel and Benefit round out my August must haves. Take a look here at my picks and tell me yours!
Last month, rumours claimed British models would take part in a fashion event as part of the Olympics Closing Ceremony in London this August. Documents leaked and published today have now added further details about this tribute to great British fashion. As previously reported, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell will walk the catwalk, and today's reports suggest they will be joined by Stella Tennant, Lily Cole and Georgia May Jagger wearing outfits from the likes of Vivienne Westwood and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen to a music backdrop of David Bowie songs 'Fashion' and 'Rebel Rebel'. While I'm disappointed Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's name seems to have dropped off the list, I can't wait to see the event. Are you excited for this Olympic fashion parade at the Closing Ceremony on August 12?
New pictures from the Alexander McQueen Autumn/Winter 2012 campaign have been released, with model Suvi Koponen photographed by David Sims. Ever since the catwalk show back in March I've been obsessing over the pink and silver feathers and fur. The highly textured collection in ruffled organzas features three-dimensional silhouettes with enamel blossom embroideries, funnel necks and bell-shaped skirts. Those mirrored visor glasses are back for the ads, as are mink and leather ankle boots. Take a look here and tell me what you think!
