Jessica Biel wore a Donna Karan New York dress for the cover of Elle's December 2011 issue and inside spoke about her aspirations and career.

Jessica Biel wore a Donna Karan New York dress for the cover of Elle's December 2011 issue and inside spoke about her aspirations and career. One topic that the actress wouldn't touch on, though, was her on-again relationship with Justin Timberlake. Jessica has been busy shooting both Total Recall in Vancouver and New Year's Eve in NYC recently. Nonetheless, she's had plenty of time to hang out with JT in places like LA and Las Vegas, as well as a few hours for a chat with the magazine. Jessica said:

  • On her status with Justin Timberlake: "A girl doesn't kiss and tell."
  • On a role that got away: "The Notebook. That's one that I wanted so badly. I was in the middle of shooting Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and I auditioned with Ryan Gosling in my trailer — covered in blood. [Director] Nick Cassavetes put me through the wringer in an interesting, excitingly creative way. But there's a million that get away. We're gluttons for punishment. It's just rejection."
  • On whether she would consider leaving show business: "Absolutely. I'd love to write. I wrote a lot of short stories and poetry when I was a kid. That was my creative outlet. I've written a short film, and I write poetry."

Jennifer Aniston's piercing blue eyes stand out on the November issue of Elle, on stands Oct.

Jennifer Aniston's piercing blue eyes stand out on the November issue of Elle, on stands Oct. 18. Jen slipped into a sexy black tank top from Balmain, Balenciaga shorts, a Cartier necklace, and David Yurman bracelets for her cover shoot while boyfriend Justin Theroux watched her pose for photographer Alexei Hay — shop Jen's luxury look now! Inside the magazine she talks more about the rumors surrounding her personal life, including pregnancy speculation, and reveals her experience working in front of and behind the camera. Jen's not the only famous face inside the issue; she's joined by veteran actresses like Naomi Watts, Viola Davis, and Michelle Pfeiffer as well as newcomers like Elizabeth Olsen and Evan Rachel Wood — see the full spread on Elle.com. The ladies talk about what it's like working in Hollywood in addition to pinpointing the moment they all decided to become actresses. Here's more:

  • Jennifer on baby rumors: "But it's not what you read. There's no desperation. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. I'm at peace with whatever the plan is. But will you hate me if I say I don't want to talk about my relationship?"
  • Jennifer on the first time she stood up to a male director: "I threw a chair at a director. It wasn't my proudest moment. He was treating a script supervisor horribly . . . When the director walked in, I threw a chair at him. I missed, of course. I was like, 'You can't speak to people like that.' I can't tolerate it."
  • Naomi on her breakthrough role in Mulholland Drive: "It was a game-changer, but I knew I had to be careful. You can get a lot of attention and still be gone in a flash."
  • Naomi on becoming an actress: "One of the things was seeing the movie Fame, as cheesy as that sounds. I was like, That looks fun! It wasn't that I wanted to be famous. I just wanted to go to acting class."
  • Elizabeth on taking a year off school to make her film debut: "They're all indies, so the shoots were relatively short — it was great because every single film was a genre, and the directors were so completely different. It helped me figure out what worked for me and how I would adapt. It was difficult at times — like a great year of conservatory training. It was that intense."
  • Elizabeth on her desire to act: "Watching old Frank Sinatra musicals when I was, like, 6. I wanted to be one of the love interests when I got older."

Kate Hudson playfully poses inside Elle's September issue wearing only her new jewelry collection, CH+KH, a collaboration with Chrome Hearts designer and co-owner Laurie Lynn Stark. Check out more pieces from Kate Hudson's Chrome Hearts collection and hear what Kate has to say about Ryder's music career on Elle.com. Kate recently gave birth to her second child, Bingham "Bing" Bellamy, and since then she's been hanging close to home with her fiancé, Matthew Bellamy, and 7-year-old son, Ryder Robinson. In the issue, Kate talks about embracing motherhood, choosing projects based on how much time she'll be away from her family, and parenting tips she's gotten from Goldie Hawn. Here's more:

  • Kate on setting a wedding date: "One thing at a time. We’ll say hello to our new one [son Bingham] and enjoy that for a while."
  • Kate on her busy lifestyle: "Most relationships I’ve had in my life have been with people who travel quite a bit for work . . . I don’t know if I’m attracted to that specifically, but it is nice to be with somebody who understands having to be on the move."
  • Kate on choosing new projects: [Choosing roles is] definitely getting harder. You have to think about things like, ‘Where is it? How long is it going to keep me away from my family?' But, you know, life moves on. I would never want to be someone who complains and goes, ‘Oh my God, my life is so crazy . . . if you make the best of it, it can be amazing.”
  • Kate on turning to Goldie for advice: "We’ve definitely had lots of talks about parenting and being a working mom . . . She never hands out unsolicited preachy words of wisdom, though. My parents allowed my brother and I to have our freedom and be ourselves and feel confident in our choices and to make mistakes without too much judgment. I hope that I can do as good a job."

Gwyneth Paltrow Tells Elle Chris Martin Doesn't Want His Fans Envisioning a "Lame Famous Couple"

Gwyneth Paltrow wore two different black looks for the September 2011 cover of Elle magazine.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore two different black looks for the September 2011 cover of Elle magazine. She's in the issue chatting up her role in the star-studded movie Contagion, which opens on Sept. 9. Gwyneth also touched on her other work, like her recurring role on Glee, foray into music, and writing GOOP. She shared some advice pal Beyoncé Knowles gave her before the Grammys and discussed why she decided to share workout tips in her e-newsletter. Gwyneth also made a rare comment about her husband Chris Martin, divulging why they keep their marriage out of the spotlight. Gwyneth said:

  • On Beyoncé's help for the Grammys: "This story always makes me cry. . . . It’s 10 in the morning and Beyoncé schleps it all the way down to the Staples Center to watch. I mean, she’s Beyoncé! . . . Beyoncé's like, 'OK. The singing is great. But you’re not having any fun.' She’s like, 'Remember when we’re at Jay’s concert and Panjabi MC comes on and you do your crazy Indian dance? Do that. Be you!'"
  • On sharing her workouts: "It’s so much easier to sit home and not exercise and criticize other people. What I love is inspiring people. People come up to me and say, ‘I want to have two kids and wear a bathing suit and not feel terrible about myself. I see how hard you work and it makes me feel like I can do that too.'"
  • On rumors she and Chris broke up: "Sometimes it’s hard being with someone for a long time. We go through periods that aren’t all rosy. I always say, life is long and you never know what’s going to happen. If, God forbid, we were ever not to be together, I respect him so much as the father of my children. Like, I made such a good choice. He’s such a good dad. You can never be relaxed or smug and think, ‘I’ve got this thing.’ That’s also part of it: keeping yourself on your toes. I’m not going to take this for granted."
  • On keeping her marriage private: "He makes music for his fans, and he doesn’t want people to conjure a lame famous couple when they’re getting into his music. I get it."

Agyness Deyn Gets Rebellious For James Franco's Lens

When does James Franco sleep?

When does James Franco sleep? In addition to being an actor, director, author, and grad student, the multi-hyphenate superstar is now trying his hand at fashion photography. His debut for Elle — a gritty, winsome editorial called "Chateau Dreams" — was inspired by Rebel Without a Cause and paints Agyness Deyn as an androgynous beauty roaming the streets (and skies) of Los Angeles. Franco also depicts models Natalia Bonifacci and Imogen Poots in a similar gender-bending aesthetic — ties, men's shirts, and leather jackets — making for one impressive undertaking by the multitalented actor. The shoot is part of Franco’s contemporary art project which debuts this Summer at the Venice Biennale, and you can see all of the photos now on Elle.com.
