Brits and non-Brits alike were out at the British Independent Film Awards in London last night. Anna Karenina star Jude Law took home the Variety Award while the drama Broken took home the top prize of best British independent film. Andrea Riseborough, who was spotted sharing a laugh with The Avengers star Tom Hiddleston, won the Best Actress award for her role in Shadow Dancer.

Felicity Jones, Tom Felton, and Elle Fanning were also on hand at the award show. Elle stole the show in a princess-like pink Oscar de la Renta gown, which was fitting for her latest role. She recently wrapped filming Disney's Maleficent, in which she plays Princess Aurora. The movie pits Elle against Angelina Jolie, who plays the villain Maleficent. Elle told us last month that she was completely starstruck by Angelina when she first met her, even silently freaking out when the A-list mom so much as touched her.

Kristen Stewart paired an A.L.C. see-through white tee with a black bra and Juicy Couture plaid pants to attend the Variety Studio in LA yesterday. It was the first day of Variety's symposium, bringing together performers to talk about movies and TV projects in comedy and drama categories. Kristen was among the many actors who attended the Variety event. Her On the Road costar Garrett Hedlund also swung by, as did Elle Fanning, Leslie Mann, Rosemarie DeWitt, Michael Peña, and Kerry Washington.

Kristen's in California after a few weeks away. Kristen Stewart and boyfriend Robert Pattinson were in the UK together, then stopped for a few days in NYC. Yesterday, Kristen and Rob went their separate ways for the afternoon. Kristen also opted out Tuesday when Robert had drinks at Chateau Marmont with a group of friends that included the singer M.I.A.

Elle Fanning wore Dolce & Gabbana to join Christina Hendricks at a screening of their movie Ginger & Rosa at The Paley Center in LA last night. Christina also opted for a long dress, and apparently she and Elle have a similar taste in clothes. Elle told us she and Christina bonded over shopping, saying, "She loves vintage just like me. We share the love of that — she looks amazing."

Elle also had kind words for her costar in another project, Maleficent, Angelina Jolie. Elle admitted to being nervous when she first met Angelina. She told us last night, "I remember going into Pinewood Studios and turning the corner in London, seeing her for the first time and thinking, 'There she is!' And she immediately just gave me a huge hug. And she said, 'We're going to have so much fun working together!' From that moment I was like, 'Oh my God — she's touching me!'" Angelina and Elle won't be on the big screen together until 2014, but Elle's Ginger & Rosa is in select theaters now.

The stars of We Bought a Zoo gathered in NYC last night for their big premiere. Matt Damon walked the carpet with his wife Luciana close behind, as Scarlett Johansson and Elle Fanning showed off their lovely dresses. Elle picked a white Louis Vuitton number, while Scarlett went with the opposite in black Dolce & Gabbana. We caught a minute with the three stars yesterday, with Elle telling us about her holiday plans. She'd love a film camera for Christmas, and aspires to stop biting her nails in 2012! Scarlett, meanwhile, is looking to catch up on her sleep during her holidays. Matt is planning to take a break with his family, including his four daughters. Matt's latest movie, Almost Famous director Cameron Crowe's first-ever family film, hasn't earned him points with the little ones, though. Michelle Williams, in Nina Ricci, looked happy after accepting her Hollywood Actress statue and made the rounds with her best friend Busy Philipps. A pregnant Bryce Dallas Howard celebrated the success of The Help in a red Dolce & Gabbana dress while other stars like Carey Mulligan, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and a Naeem Khan-clad Julianne Hough mingled as well. Diane Kruger had Joshua Jackson by her side at the Chanel Haute Couture show in Paris last night. The couple was among many fashionable faces at the presentation including Elle Fanning, Alexa Chung, and Milla Jovovich. Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson went shopping in France just last week, and Diane wore cutoff shorts and a leather jacket for the outing. It was a casual moment for Diane, who has been dressing up and stepping out at numerous events recently. She joined Marc Jacobs at the amfAR Inspiration Gala in June and shared the spotlight with Joshua at Jaeger-Lecoultre's 80th anniversary bash a few days later.

Katie Holmes got the chance to accept the Max Mara Face of the Future honor at the Crystal + Lucy Awards in LA last night. It was announced that she would be the recipient earlier this year, and she already celebrated the win with a dinner hosted by Max Mara and Vanity Fair on Wednesday. Katie had the support of her parents, Martin and Kathleen, backstage after she took the microphone, and she also made time to pose with bright young star Elle Fanning. Elle and Tom Cruise had their own moment for the cameras when they were snapped together at the Super 8 premiere last week. The Women in Film fundraiser, which was hosted by Bridesmaids funny girl Melissa McCarthy, also brought out Rose McGowan, Annette Bening, and Neil Patrick Harris among others. Annette picked up the Crystal Award for her excellence in film while Neil stepped out for the event just one day after turning 38.

Elle Fanning posed with Tom Cruise on the black carpet at the LA premiere of Super 8 last night. It was Elle's latest big event after she watched her older sister Dakota Fanning's high school graduation Monday. Dakota is now looking forward to shooting Very Good Girls this Summer before reportedly enrolling at NYU this Fall. Elle has her J.J. Abrams penned and directed movie hitting theaters one day early — it's on big screens today! The Super 8 reviews look amazing so far, and it seems J.J. will have another hit on his hands as will producer Steven Spielberg. J.J. also turned out yesterday and had a chance to catch up with Tom after they wrapped up work on Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, which J.J. wrote a few months ago. There is another Fanning-Cruise-Spielberg connection, since Dakota starred in Steven's War of the Worlds with Tom back in 2005. Tom is now in the midst of filming Rock of Ages, but he and J.J. will reunite again before the latest installment of the Ethan Hunt franchise comes out in December.
