Last night in Los Angeles, the best of TV talent celebrated the Emmy Awards. British stars did us proud in stunning red carpet numbers, from Cat Deeley's one-shouldered Tadashi Shoji dress to Michelle Dockery's midnight blue Louis Vuitton gown. Michelle was joined by her Downton Abbey costar Joanne Froggatt who was resplendent in Vivienne Westwood, while Kelly Osbourne was on the same fishtail hem page as Cat in a lilac Zac Posen Resort '13 dress. Take a look at their outfits from all angles here, then vote to tell me who was most fab!
Jimmy Kimmel was the master of ceremonies for another successful Primetime Emmy Awards in LA on Sunday evening. Jimmy kicked off the show with his latest star-studded skit which featured Zooey Deschanel, Connie Britton, Lena Dunham ,and more. Homeland and Modern Family were the big winners of the evening, though there were tons of fun and funny highlights throughout. Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad gave one of the most animated acceptance speeches of the evening, ending with a very emotional shout-out to his fiancé. Claire Danes also sent out some love to her "baby daddy," husband Hugh Dancy, without whom, she said, none of this would mean anything.
Seth MacFarlane had an actual onstage blunder when he didn't walk up to the correct mic stand, and Ellen DeGeneres had her own embarrassing moment when she stepped on stage without her pants on. In other highlights, Louis CK was a big winner of the night, Jon Stewart had to fight his way to the stage to accept his 10th Emmy for The Daily Show, and Michael J. Fox earned a standing ovation when he stepped on stage to present Modern Family with its best comedy series win. The Emmys red carpet was filled with enviable looks from some of our favorite stars and while it was hard choosing, we narrowed it down to our top five looks ranging from deep blue metallic sparkle to red-hot hues. Christina Hendricks glowed in a custom-made silver dress by Johanna Johnson and Palladium Simon G jewels, Amy Poehler looked divine in a dark blue gown by Peter Som, and Gwyneth Paltrow took a magnificent risk in a cropped creation by Pucci. Kerry Washington also took our breath away in a strapless red sequined gown by Zuhair Murad, while Claire Danes opted for a high-shimmer ensemble from Oscar de la Renta. Take a close look, then tell us which celebrity look is your favorite!
In a sea of vividly hued gowns and sequined details, it's no surprise many stars turned to neutral nails to complement their ensembles. And while nudes and creamy pinks may have been the status quo, there were plenty of stars who looked to metallics to give their red-carpet finest a bit of pizzazz. See 10 chic manicures that will look as good in regular life as they did at the Emmys.
The glamorous hairstyles of the '30s and '40s have been having a renaissance for a while now, but they made a particularly strong showing at the 2011 Emmy Awards. And it wasn't just the same finger waves or retro hair accessories, either. Celebrities wore all manner of Old Hollywood looks, from Aubrey Plaza's curls to Dianna Agron's '30s-style swoop and Julianna Margulies's rolled wave. Get out your hot sets and your rag rollers, because if this trend keeps up, we may all be taking our coifs back in time.
