I have to say I've been anticipating this trailer for a while, as Becky Bloomwood takes the step from the pages of Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series of books and onto the screen in Confessions of a Shopaholic.
The movie stars Isla Fisher as Becky, and — weirdly — Isla's putting on an American accent in the role, which I was a little disappointed about as I love British Becky. Still I think that's something I'll get over fairly quickly if the film's good.
I enjoyed the trailer — it's fun, light-hearted and looks like it will reflect the comedy and energy of the brilliant novels, but I want to know what you think. When this movie finally makes it to our screens in 2009 will you make the trip to see it?

i only said 'skip it' because - becky is NOT american!?
1Skip.
I really enjoy the books, but the film looks too shrieky for me. I'm so disappointed.
2I'm really mixed. I love these books so much that I don't want them to be ruined by a movie. Mayfairgirl I agree, Becky is not American and neither is Luke but I guess we will just have to deal.
3The books don't really interest me, the film looks like it could be fun but I won't be rushing to see it.
4!!!Becky Bloomwood is English you cant make her anything else thats just the whole point of the book, the brit sense of humour and the her being in countryside england, london and then newyork... i was excited about this at first because i love those books so much, the only thing they took from the book was that the girl likes fashion and probably falls in love...umm original... i wonder what Sophie kinsella thinks?
5Who's the bloke, what's he been in? I like the look of the film - a bit of escapism from recession woe. Weirdly, the voiceover sounds very like Nicole Kidman, maybe that's how Aussies do US.
6i really loved the books but i have to admit i'm a bit disappointed in this preview of the film. becky is definitely not american but not only that this seems like some generic romantic comedy. its lost all the personality the books had. i was really hoping this was going to be good because these books deserved a good film attached to it. i was hoping for something funny and original. this is bland.

And I know what you're all saying — I'm hopeing they've played up the trailer to try and tap into the SATC Movie audience, but it does have lots of tiny clips of comedic scenes that hopefully will bring a little humour of the books to the screen. I might be horribly disappointed, but I'm still holding out for this one...
8o, thank you pop!
9i thought the books were so much fun and isla fisher is adorable. i just hate that she isn't a brit and it's rated pg-13. it won't be the same without all of the cursing.
