Lady Gaga recently wore an intriguing Armani Prive outfit to the Grammys earlier this year. The ensemble was hot off the catwalk in Paris and fitted in with Lady Gaga's outrageous wardrobe. She is about to go on tour and Mr. Armani will again be providing part of her wardrobe. He commented, “We hear Lady Gaga’s music everywhere we go, it is like a soundtrack of our times. In addition to her formidable songwriting skills, she is a modern fashion phenomenon.” Prada will also provide a look for the Monsters Ball tour which is an 18th century-inspired hoop dress made of camel-colored ciré. 2010 Spring Couture: Armani Prive

Couture week continued in Paris yesterday as Giorgio Armani presented his Armani Prive line.

Couture week continued in Paris yesterday as Giorgio Armani presented his Armani Prive line. As we're in the midst of award season, you can almost guarantee that one of these gowns will make a red carpet appearance over the next few weeks. Who can forget Angelina Jolie's tight strapless number at the 2009 BAFTAs which was hot off the catwalk?

This Spring the collection was two tone with creations ranging from trouser suits to dramatic ball gowns. As always, the beauty of these designs lay in the details like the asymmetric hemlines, bubble capes, and crescent moon applique. The whole collection was based on the moon, he explained, "I always need a hook to get into a collection, and that was it—thinking about something romantic and dreamy, far away from our everyday life. Something less harsh." That idea ties in nicely with couture and in this line it was present in luminescent fabrics, shapes of dresses and jackets and embroidery.

Last Autumn, Cristiano Ronaldo was announced as the new face of Emporio Armani underwear taking the reigns from fellow footballer David Beckham. The fruits of his labour have just been unveiled and show the Real Madrid player in various poses. Giorgio Armani commented on his new campaign star, "Cristiano is a great looking man with the perfect physique of an athlete. For me, he is the essence of youth – spontaneous, exciting, a real maverick." It was shot in Madrid by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and will appear on billboards around the world from February.

Cristiano is pleased with the shoot explaining, "Giorgio Armani is a legend in the fashion world and I have long been a fan of his work. I am very pleased with the pictures we have done together – they are certainly striking and are full of an attitude and spirit that I can relate to." Earlier this week, Megan Fox's first campaign for the brand were revealed as she took on Victoria's role. What do you think of Cristiano's campaign?

Would You Stay at a Designer Hotel?

In recent years, fashion designers have expanded their global empires to include more than just clothes and accessories.

In recent years, fashion designers have expanded their global empires to include more than just clothes and accessories. Big names like Roberto Cavalli, Missoni and, most recently, Giorgio Armani have ventured in to property development with stylish hotels and clubs opening across the globe. This week, Armani's Dubai hotel was unveiled which is part of the Burj Dubai tower (the world's tallest building) and will officially open in March. It is the first of many for the Italian designer who also has plans for a resort in Marrakech and for villas in Marassi in Egypt. This got me thinking, have you or would you ever stay at a designer hotel?

It seems like this movie has been doing the rounds for a while, and since Valentino Garavani retired from his own label he has been busy promoting it. The designer and his business partner Giancarlo Giammetti were in Milan last night to attend the premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor along with some of Italy's most fashionable names. Naomi Campbell and her beau Vladislav Doronin were joined on the red carpet by Giorgio Armani and Margherita Missoni who looked colourful in a boyfriend blazer.

Fab Flash: Giorgio Armani for Italian Senate?

Fashion is clearly something that is taken incredibly seriously in Italy.

Fashion is clearly something that is taken incredibly seriously in Italy. The country is home to some of the world's most famous design houses including Versace, Gucci, and Prada, but could one of the biggest names in fashion now be eyeing up a government position?

Today, rumours are suggesting that Giorgio Armani has been recommended for a place in the Italian senate.

The Italian President Giorgio Napolitano received a letter nominating Giorgio for a seat from none other than Santo Versace (Donatella's brother). If selected, Giorgio would join the existing seven Senators For Life. Santo wrote, “Armani is the best candidate to receive the nominee for senator for life," adding that “the image of our country would’ve been very different without” Mr. Armani’s success in fashion. He also argued that, "No one can do a better job than Giorgio Armani in showing the beauty of Italy — the Italy that we desire."

It's an interesting proposal particularly recently as the fashion and political worlds become increasingly linked, with Carla Bruni being the first lady of France, Michelle Obama supporting upcoming American designers, Sarah Brown helping out London Fashion Week and Samantha Cameron being the creative director of Smythson. This has lead me to think of more fashion/political mixes, like Paul Smith for Prime Minister or Christopher Bailey for business secretary! It would certainly make parliament a more stylish place.

Another image from Victoria Beckham's campaign with Armani lingerie has been unveiled this week as she strikes a pose on a ladder. The image shows off an impressive silhouette from the Spice Girl turned designer who is hoping to bag an American Vogue cover this Autumn. It was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott who have definitely made the most of their model. What do you think of the latest addition to Victoria's portfolio?
