Isla Fisher got glamorous for the cover of Gotham magazine's late Spring issue. She is gearing up for the debut of her highly anticipated project The Great Gatsby, which will open the Cannes Film Festival on May 15 following its release on May 10. Isla stars alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire in the film, but inside the magazine she opened up to Kirsten Dunst about the possibility of working with another leading man — her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen. Isla also talked about the experience of filming in her native Australia and touched on how motherhood to Olive and Elula has impacted her career. Here's more from Isla Fisher in Gotham magazine:
- On whether she will ever work with her husband: "Personally, I think we collaborate on enough behind closed doors. We're working on some really important collaborations, and I think that's more important. Obviously, I'm a big fan of his. My favorite movie will always be Bruno, and my favorite line will always be when he looks up at the sky and goes, 'So many stars in the sky. Makes you think of all the hot guys in the world.' So freaking random and funny."
- On filming Gatsby in her native Australia: "It was thrilling and terrifying. Given the caliber of the director and cast on Gatsby, I definitely felt out of my comfort zone. I did feel like I was going to be called out and sent home at some point — you always feel very insecure, at least I do. But I got to eat Vegemite toast for breakfast and swim on Bondi Beach."
- On taking a break from her career to have kids: "I did. I took three years off. It's not like you're taking a break and looking on IMDBPro to see your star meter falling. You're doing the most important, incredible thing. When you come back in, the perspective has changed. I truly believe you can't have it all and you shouldn't want to."
- On how becoming a wife and a mother changed the way she works: "Even when you don't take your kids with you, your mind and heart are busy with them. It would be very hard for me to play scenes where a mother lost a child — I wouldn't want to play that scene in Jude, where Kate Winslet finds her babies murdered. I'm just not ready to put my head into that kind of stuff while mine are so small. That’s why I'm drawn to lighter material."
Anne Hathaway shared laughs and drinks with her Les Misérables costars at a special pre-Oscars bash in LA last night. She donned a Theyskens' Theory minidress as she celebrated with a Dior-wearing Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, and Isla Fisher, who attended the shindig with her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen. The Les Misérables fete supported the Los Angeles Fund For Public Education, and drew other celebrities like Adrien Brody and Judy Greer. The celebration wasn't to be confused with the separate Vanity Fair party for Silver Linings Playbook, which also benefited education in LA and was held on the same night.
The pre-Oscars parties are just getting started, and the casts of both films will have plenty of chances to celebrate before Oscar night on Sunday, Feb. 24. Don't forget to fill out our Oscar ballot for a chance to win $1,000 and an iPad.
The 2013 SAG Awards had plenty of exciting moments, including Jennifer Lawrence's win for Silver Linings Playbook and Ben Affleck's Argo success. While much of the focus was on the stage, there was still lots of action happening in the audience with stars mingling during breaks and chatting over dinner. Jennifer Garner got up from her seat next to husband Ben Affleck to pose with winner Anne Hathaway, while Busy Philipps met up with Jack McBrayer in between tables. Presenter Justin Timberlake shared a snap with Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper backstage, and Jessica Chastain laughed with ladies Kerry Washington and Julianne Moore. The Les Misérables fun continued following the world premiere in London's Leicester Square with an afterparty last night. Anne Hathaway changed out of her white Givenchy gown and into a strapless Altuzarra number while Amanda Seyfried swapped her ruffled dress for pants and a jacket. Hugh Jackman, Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Isla Fisher all made their way from the red carpet to the bash, where Goldie Hawn popped up to celebrate. The film's press tour will continue with a big premiere in NYC on Monday, just ahead of the Christmas Day opening. While the stars are on the East Coast, they'll promote the project with multiple TV appearances. Anne is set to chat with David Letterman and appear on Live! With Kelly and Michael next week.
Kirsten Dunst and Isla Fisher brought their comedy, Bachelorette, to NYC last night with their costar Lizzy Caplan. Isla and Kirsten both donned Stella McCartney for the Svedka-sponsored screening, while Lizzy went a slightly different route in Halston Heritage. The trio have been around the country showing off the picture before its theatrical release on Friday, though it's been on-demand for a while and is currently among the top rentals on iTunes. Kirsten, Isla, and Lizzy all told us about the portrayals of female friendships in the film — stay tuned for that later today on PopSugar Rush!
Isla also touched on her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen, winning comedian of the year at last night's British GQ Men of the Year Awards in London. She joked that he didn't need her congratulations because he was off having a blast at an afterparty at Bono's house. Kirsten, who's been hanging out in the Big Apple with her boyfriend and On the Road costar, Garrett Hedlund, spoke about a few upcoming trips. She and Garrett are taking On the Road to the Toronto International Film Festival, and she revealed a lot has been changed in their movie since its Cannes debut. Kirsten said it feels more like the book presently. After Canada, she's off to Greece to work on her next film.
The ladies of Bachelorette, Lizzy Kaplan, Kirsten Dunst, and Isla Fisher, gathered for their LA premiere last night. They had company on the red carpet from their leading man James Marsden, as well as their movie's director Leslye Headland and costar Rebel Wilson. Isla, Kirsten, and Lizzy coordinated in a patriotic range of red, white, and blue — who's your pick for best dressed at the Bachelorette premiere? Isla's red number was from Reem Acra, and Kirsten's blue was designed by Jean Paul Gaultier. At the film's ArcLight Cinemas afterparty, Ali Larter showed her tummy in a striped outfit, paird with an Edie Parker clutch, and made the rounds alongside husband Hayes MacArthur. Bachelorette hits theaters Sept. 7, but is available on demand already.
The stars at Cannes gathered to celebrate euphoria Calvin Klein last night at a bash held just outside the center of town at the opulent Villa St. George. A few of Calvin's ladies were on hand for the Belvedere-sponsored bash. Model Lara Stone, who's in the CK Jeans campaigns, made the rounds with her comedian husband David Walliams, of Little Britain. Diane Kruger fronts the brand's beauty ads and arrived on the arm of boyfriend Joshua Jackson. It's a busy week for Diane, one of the Cannes Film Festival judges. She managed to have a night of fun, though, and caught up with friends like Isla Fisher, Naomi Watts, and Jessica Chastain.
Fellow Australians Isla and Naomi spent a good portion of the night chatting in a corner together. Jessica and Shailene Woodley were among the last to walk the press line before heading up into the house for drinks and snacks. Alec Baldwin arrived on the arm of his fiancée Hilaria Thomas, and they mingled with other funny guys like Chris Rock and David Schwimmer.

Dreamworks' next animated project, Rise of the Guardians, hits theaters this holiday season, but the film's starring voices Isla Fisher, Alec Baldwin, and Chris Pine were happy to talk about the film during a Q&A session with press in Cannes today. The trio are just a few of the stars in the ensemble cast, along with Hugh Jackman and Jude Law. The movie chronicles the so-called guardians — Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and more — in their fight to save the children of the world from an evil spirit, voiced by Jude. Guardians will likely be a project Isla can share with her daughters, Olive and Elula.
Alec is in France with fiancée Hilaria Thomas, and he's actually doing double-duty. In addition to press for Guardians, Alec is filming the documentary Seduced and Abandoned. He and writer-director James Toback are capturing the process involved in raising funds and selling an idea at Cannes. It seems Alec's turning his attention to film with news that 30 Rock will air its final episode next Fall in an abbreviated 13-episode season.
Naomi Watts and her fellow Australians Hugh Jackman and Isla Fisher, in D&G, were among the celebrities who turned out for the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic on NYC's Governors Island yesterday. Nicky and Kathy Hilton were also on hand at the sporting grounds, where polo player and Ralph Lauren model Nacho Figueras showed off his skills on the field. Hugh sang a version of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" to kick off the fourth annual match before taking his seat along the sidelines. Nacho's Black Watch team won the game, and once his work as an athlete was done, he changed into a Summer suit to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. The champagne was flowing at the Sunday soiree, and Donna Karan got the party started by teaming up with Wyclef Jean on the dance floor. Wyclef performed and lent his support to the event, which also served as a fundraiser for Donna's Hope Help & Rebuild Haiti nonprofit.
