Jessica Simpson wore a low-cut dress for an appearance on The Tonight Show yesterday. Fresh off an extended holiday vacation to Hawaii with her fiancé, Eric Johnson, their daughter, Maxwell, and a rotating cast of friends and family, Jess was ready to chat about her second pregnancy and her various work projects. One of those projects was announced yesterday morning — a Jessica Simpson scripted comedy is in the works at host Jay Leno's network, NBC.

Jessica was her usual funny candid self while talking with Jay about her expanding family. She said that she and Eric, who've been engaged for two years, "had two different wedding dates, but he keeps knocking me up! We're doing it very backwards. I'll just keep my legs crossed this time." As for their having two kids within two years, apparently it wasn't planned. Jessica admitted, "I was extremely shocked because I was going through a lot of hormonal changes, trying to get back to the old, vibrant Jessica. You know, it was kind of like a one-night stand. And it happened all over again!"

Jessica is set to star in a scripted NBC comedy series based on her life that will be produced by Ben Silverman and Jessica's father, Joe. She shared her excitement about the sitcom, saying, "I am so excited to work with Ben and NBC again, this time on a scripted comedy. I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life — so between the real-life elements and a great team of writers, I think we'll have people laughing!"

Jessica confirmed her second pregnancy earlier this month with a cute picture of daughter Maxwell next to the writing, "big sis." Jessica, Maxwell, and Eric Johnson have been relaxing with Jessica's sister Ashlee and her son Bronx as well as their mom Tina and pals CaCee Cobb and Donald Faison. CaCee and Donald joined in on the trip after getting married in LA on Dec. 15. They hit the beach to soak up the sun yesterday splashing around with a bikini-clad Ashlee and Bronx. The group took a break from the sand today though, to watch the Dallas Cowboys game, though the Texas team's season is now over following their loss to the Washington Redskins.

Jessica Simpson confirmed today that she's pregnant with her second child. Jessica and finacé Eric Johnson are expanding their family in 2013 and she shared the news via Twitter. Jessica tweeted a photo from vacation of daughter Maxwell with the words "big sis" drawn next to her in the sand. Twitter is becoming Jessica's go-to platform for exciting updates, in 2011 she shared a photo of her baby bump right before Halloween while famously dressed as a mummy.

Jessica, who's been slimming down with Weight Watchers, didn't deny or confirm rumors of her pregnancy until today. Weight Watchers was reportedly upset by unexpected news of her second pregnancy, though they were quick to send her best wishes earlier this morning following her announcement. Congrats to Jessica, Eric, and Maxwell!

Florida marks the latest stop for Jessica and Ashlee, who attended a similar fan meet-and-greet at Macy's in California last weekend. It's been a hectic week for Jessica, who shot a new Weight Watchers commercial on Thursday and wrapped production on the second season of Fashion Star on Friday.

Jessica and fiancé Eric Johnson are also prepping to celebrate Maxwell's first Thanksgiving. So far they've marked other major holidays like Fourth of July and Halloween by sharing adorable family photos, but we'll have to wait and see if they keep up the tradition and share a candid snap with Maxwell on Thursday.

Their family fun included a costumed Halloween, in which Maxwell dressed as a chicken and a monkey.
