Kate Hudson wore denim –– yes, denim –– on the red carpet last night and pulled it off without a hitch! The blond beauty reached for an embellished denim mini for the premiere of her latest movie, Clear History, and she's not the only one testing out this casual fabric on the red carpet. Amanda Seyfried and Diane Kruger have already tried this out as well! Watch on to see Kate's spot-on style.
Kate Hudson showed off her killer legs in a blue Balmain minidress and Casadei pumps when she arrived at the premiere of Clear History in LA yesterday. The new film, which debuts on HBO on Aug. 10, is the latest project from the mind of Larry David and stars Kate alongside Eva Mendes, Jon Hamm, Amy Ryan, and Michael Keaton. Other guests at the red carpet fete included former Hills star Kristin Cavallari and Entourage's Perrey Reeves.
Before attending her latest film's big debut, Kate made a pit stop at The Tonight Show to share her interesting connection with Prince William. She revealed that William, Prince Harry, and Princess Diana once stayed at her family's home in Snowmass, CO, when the two princes were young. While Kate and her parents were in LA at the time and didn't get to meet the royal family, she did reveal that William politely called up Kate's dad, Kurt Russell, to ask for permission to use their ATVs. Kate said, "When my dad got off the phone he said, 'That's a really well-raised boy.'"
Surprised may be an understatement to describe our initial reaction to news that Helena Christensen had been cast as the new face of Not Your Daughter's Jeans. But on second glance, the partnership with the newly abbreviated NYDJ makes perfect sense for a brand looking to breathe new life into its designs while not alienating the core audience. Established labels, like St. John and Ann Taylor (below), have long turned to new faces during periods of rebranding.
A contemporary of the jean label's customer base, Helena is also a mother, and while we don't imagine the supermodel will have to take much advantage of NYDJ's "Lift Tuck Technology" (have you seen those legs?), we agree that she, like the jeans, is a perfect fit.
Maintaining a blond mane requires constant touch-ups to keep root growth at bay, but the stars are keeping their hair colour relaxed this Summer with a surprising trend: visible roots. Kate Hudson was out in London last week for the Novak Djokovic Foundation gala wearing her blond hair in a loose updo. The pulled-back style showed off her natural, darker hair colour at her roots. Earlier in the week, actress Vera Farmiga hit the red carpet for The Conjuring with a sleek, deep side-parted hairstyle, which showcased her darkened roots that were tucked behind her ear. And Julianne Hough's two-toned hair colour looked edgy and intentional with chunky, textured strands, while Blake Lively's golden blond waves looked completely effortless and beachy with her grown-out roots. Clearly Hollywood is taking a break from hair colour appointments, but what do you think of this trend?
Summer means sun-kissed skin, and plenty of people find the perfect bronzer and even use it in place of blush. Just check out these three leading ladies who all swept golden hues over the apples of their cheeks instead of pinks and roses. Kate Hudson kept her cheeks a tan hue to pair prettily with her pink lips and smoky eyes, while Nicole Richie complemented her cheeks with gilded eyelids. And Olivia Munn went for full-on bronzed makeup with copper shadow, nude lips, and heavy bronzer on her cheeks. Whether or not this inspires you to try the look out yourself, whose take on the bronzer-as-blush look did you like best?
Madras was once a staple in the Summer during the 80s, but, like everything else in fashion, it took a repreive and then came back again. Kate Hudson was just spotted on the set of her new movie Good People in London earlier this week wearing a muted madras shirt, Alex Gerrard wore madras shorts on a run in Liverpool, and in New York, stylist Brad Goreski wore a mash up of madras to the CFDA Awards. Shop a multitude of madras clothing items below and leave a comment to let me know what you think of this bright, plaid print.
There was no tennis gear on the
red green carpet at last night's inaugural Novak Djokovic Foundation Gala Dinner in London. Instead, appearances from Kate Hudson and Naomi Campbell gave us two distinct takes on black-tie glamour. Both ladies stayed true to her signature style — Kate opting for something a little playful; Naomi stepping out in a gown reminiscent of her Alaia at Cannes in 2011.
Kate arrived in an embellished Ellie Saab with a carefree-feeling asymmetrical hemline that revealed a pair of studded Louboutins. Meanwhile, Naomi showed off her supermodel figure in a tiered black gown, which she accentuated with a pair of beaded tassel-drop earrings. That's the rundown on both looks; now take a closer look and tell us, who's your style ace?
It was a family affair for Kate Hudson at the Novak Djokovic Foundation gala in London today. An Elie Saab-clad Kate was joined by her mom, Goldie Hawn, and fiancé, Matthew Bellamy, at the dinner, where they mingled with Naomi Campbell, Richard Branson, Gerard Butler, Sarah Ferguson, and Princess Beatrice of York. Although they were dressed up in gowns and heels, their formal attire didn't stop Kate and Goldie from wielding rackets for a round of tennis during the gala. Kate showed off her skills in front of Wimbledon runner-up Novak Djokovic, who founded his namesake charity in 2007 in order to provide sports activities, nutrition, and better education to children in his native Serbia.
Kate popped in London for the star-studded gala after spending the weekend sightseeing in Rome, Italy, with Matthew Bellamy. The couple enjoyed a meal, then took to the streets and even greeted fans while touring the city. Kate met up with Matt during his tour stop in Italy but will likely continue filming Good People with James Franco now that she's back in England.
