'Tis the Season For Crop Tops — Will You Be Wearing One?

The sunnier seasons herald in a much more relaxed approach to dressing. For most, that means shedding the layers, and keeping it basic. For others — we count repeat performer Diane Kruger among them — it means breaking out the crop top. Last year, we saw the resurgence of bare midriffs in a noticeable way, and now it's becoming the go-to trend for Hollywood's A-list.

And thanks to Dolce & Gabbana, Prabal Gurung, Calvin Klein, and Marc Jacobs, the latest set of crop top-wearing stars aren't limiting the silhouette to the usual sculpted bralette style. Instead, Kruger chose a sportier version, Doutzen Kroes went with stripes and long sleeves, and Julia Restoin Roitfeld's breezy white iteration reminded us of a sexy slip dress. Since it's only mid-May and Summer hasn't even officially started, we're wondering: Will you be taking the crop-top look for a spin this season?

The Great Gatsby's NYC premiere drew out glamour of the A-list variety last week, but it doesn't stop there. The film's special pre-Met Ball screening proved another glamourous evening in NYC, with the style crowd in full attendance. Carey Mulligan opted for a menswear-inspired look in a Lanvin tuxedo jacket and trousers, while Katy Perry showcased her signature style in a crop top and full skirt, finished with a floral headpiece. Meanwhile, the fashion pack made their mark with Solange Knowles in a striped, peplum-trimmed dress and dapper looks from Brad Goreski and Prabal Gurung. Katy Perry mixed high fashion with drag queens yesterday in NYC. She dressed up in a blue Vera Wang gown when she arrived at the 2013 Delete Blood Cancer Gala, and also dropped by a performance of the Tony-nominated musical Kinky Boots on Broadway. Katy, who is a big fan of musicals, tweeted her support for the show after the performance. She said, "Just saw Kinky Boots on Broadway and cried with joy from its powerful, beautiful message." Katy also added, "If Billy Porter doesn't win the Tony for best actor in a musical . . . There will be words . . . Trust." The musical, which was brought to the stage by Cyndi Lauper, earned a whopping 13 Tony nominations earlier this week, more than any other show.

Katy has been having a busy time on the East Coast over the past few days. She attended the White House Correspondent's' Dinner on Saturday in Washington DC and visited Prada's party for The Great Gatsby in the Big Apple on Tuesday. While at the Gatsby bash, Katy hung out with Isla Fisher and chatted with friend Florence Welch.

Saturday night's White House Correspondents' Dinner gathered celebrities from New York to LA to Washington DC. There were plenty of ladies decked out in their red carpet finest, including Katy Perry in Giambattista Valli, Kerry Washington in Wes Gordon, Kate Mara in white Prada, and more. Amy Poehler also went for white, choosing a dress from Basler. Nashville's Connie Britton wore a bright blue Temperley London number, while costar Hayden Panettiere picked a yellow Katharine Kidd gown. Purple was a popular choice for Veep's Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Dolce & Gabbana dress. and Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery in Elie Saab. Claire Danes went with baby blue Prada to hit the dinner with husband Hugh Dancy — see all the White House Correspondents Dinner fashions!

After last night's White House Correspondents' Dinner, Vanity Fair hosted its annual postparty with Editor in Chief Graydon Carter greeting the many celebrity guests. Nicole Kidman mingled with other actors including Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, and Nashville leading ladies Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere. Despite being dubbed the "nerd prom," the many actresses in DC last night were dressed to the nines in their best gowns — check out who wore what on the White House Correspondents' Dinner red carpet.

The Vanity Fair bash, cohosted by Bloomberg, also brought out celebrity couples — Jason Sudeikis stuck close to fiancée Olivia Wilde, Sofía Vergara mingled with her own spouse-to-be, Nick Loeb, and Bradley Cooper brought his young model love, Suki Waterhouse. Jason made sure to say hi to his fellow SNL buddies from the past and present, including Fred Armisen and Amy Poehler. Sofía, meanwhile, hung out with pal Katy Perry.

She was among the many ladies who hit the red carpet at the Washington Hilton for this evening's dinner, which was being emceed by Conan O'Brien. The fun kicked off last night for celebrities at Correspondents' Dinner preparties. Katy, though, skipped yesterday's events and held out for tonight's dinner, which will also bring out the president and first lady. Katy's connection with the Obamas is deep — she was a big campaigner for them in 2012 and attended the inauguration earlier this year.

Katy Perry wore a bright dress with a cellphone print yesterday to take the stage at the 2013 ASCAP "I Create Music" Expo inside the Loews Hollywood Hotel in LA. She chatted with ASCAP exec Randy Grimmett about her career, which started when she was a young teenager. There was lots of talk about Katy Perry's third album, which apparently includes a song titled "Double Rainbow" and collaborations with Max Martin, Dr. Luke, and the singer Sia.

The afternoon of business chat came after Katy had a fun week. She was able to appreciate the music of others at Coachella, where she caught up with friends like Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Katy also made the rounds at Coachella's famous parties, hitting up Lacoste's party and Harper's Bazaar's poolside fete.

January Jones stepped out for Coach's third annual Evening of Cocktails and Shopping at Bad Robot's headquarters in Santa Monica last night. She made her way through the star-studded party mingling with Chloë Sevigny and Milla Jovovich, as well as a Thakoon-clad Katy Perry, Conan O'Brien, Orlando Bloom and more. Orlando was without his wife, Miranda Kerr, for the charitable night out after she made headlines yesterday for speculation surrounding her contract as a Victoria's Secret Angel. He also stepped out without Miranda for a lunch date with friends earlier in the day.

The annual bash, which benefits the Children's Defense Fund, also brought out stars like Joe Manganiello, who had his girlfriend, model Bridget Peters, with him for the evening out. Other attendees included Kate Mara, who was accompanied by beau Max Minghella, Nikki Reed, and Rosario Dawson, who greeted fellow partygoer Amy Smart with a big hug, and also found time to catch up with Ellen Pompeo.
