Sarah Jessica Parker was by Matthew Broderick's side last night for an NBC party celebrating the premiere of the new series Smash. Many of the show's stars hit the red carpet, including Anjelica Huston, Debra Messing, Katherine McPhee, Uma Thurman, and Megan Hilty. The event came a week before Smash's premiere airs on Feb. 6 — find out what we think of the Smash pilot. It's an ambitious project from NBC and executive producer Steven Spielberg about theater people trying to do a Broadway version of Marilyn Monroe's life. The cast was recently together on the West Coast to talk about their midseason debut and the inevitable comparisons to another popular musical program, Glee. Producer Craig Zadan spoke about a possible rivalry at the TCAs, saying, "I don't think the show is like Glee, but we feel grateful to Glee for opening that door."


Debra Messing mingled with the other actors at the event, and apparently even met her new guy's parents! Debra Messing is dating costar Will Chase after separating from her husband Daniel Zelman. Yesterday, Debra met Will's mother and father at a dinner near the Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The rain didn't stop Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Zoe, and other stars from stepping out in NYC for the launch of Valentino's virtual museum at the IAC headquarters last night. Rachel Zoe looked glamorous in a beaded gown by the designer and was joined by husband Rodger Berman. Claire Danes, who's starring in Showtime's new series, Homeland, came out in a bright red dress. She wore another look by Valentino on Wednesday when she was honored at the NY Women in Film and TV Muse Awards for Vision and Achievement.

SJP pulled double duty with Matthew Broderick and also attended the premiere of New Year's Eve yesterday. She's been promoting the film all week with appearances on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and LIVE! With Kelly while costars Jessica Biel and Zac Efron have been making the talk-show rounds as well.

Stars from Garry Marshall's New Year's Eve came out in their finest holiday attire tonight for the East Coast premiere of the ensemble film. Zac Efron and Michelle Pfeiffer, who were also on hand for Saturday's junket and Monday's LA premiere, hit the carpet in the Big Apple and posed for photos. It was a busy day for Zac who kicked things off with an appearance on Live With Kelly then zoomed over to NBC studios where he sat down for a chat with Jimmy Fallon. Jessica Biel also hit the talk show circuit, and made a sexy appearance on the Late Show wearing a white Victoria Beckham design before changing into a sparkly floor-length Valentino to join her costars at the screening.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick left the kids at home and stepped out together for their latest night on the town. The couple dressed in black tie for the Kennedy Center Honors over the weekend, but for tonight SJP selected a playful gray and white dress, and Matthew modeled a traditional navy suit. Jon Bon Jovi and Taraji P. Henson hit the event solo while Robert De Niro was joined by his lovely wife Grace Hightower.

This year's Kennedy Center Honorees were in the company of many celebrities on Saturday night in Washington DC. Meryl Streep was one of the five people receiving the nation's highest arts honor, along with Yo-Yo Ma, Neil Diamond, saxophonist Sonny Rollins, and singer Barbara Cook. The President and First Lady, who wore a custom Vera Wang, joined Matthew Broderick, a Theyskens’s Theory-clad Sarah Jessica Parker, John Krasinski, and Emily Blunt for the party. Emily stood out in a bold Notte by Marchesa number, while her sister, Felicity Blunt, wore black to accompany fiancé Stanley Tucci.

Stanley, Emily, and Anne Hathaway completed a Devil Wears Prada foursome with Meryl! Anne brought along her husband-to-be Adam Shulman. She wore a simple black Giambattista Valli that let her new rock shine. Anne's engagement ring made its debut last week, when she and Adam went public with their happy news.

Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, and Matthew Broderick got together last night for the NYC premiere of their comedy caper Tower Heist. Sarah Jessica Parker, wearing a tiered Narciso Rodriguez dress and Manolo Blahnik stilettos, was out late on a school night with her 8-year-old James Wilkie to show their love and support to Matthew. Ben cozied up to his lovely wife, Christine Taylor, on the red carpet while costars Eddie, Casey Affleck, Gabourey Sidibe, and Tea Leoni posed for photos before heading into the Ziegfeld Theatre. The screening brought out a variety of famous faces like Serena Williams, Donald Trump, Doutzen Kroes, and Diddy. Director Brett Ratner moved the afterparty to Stone Rose Lounge where he and the stars of the film partied late into the night alongside Jason Sudeikis and Mary-Kate Olsen.

Gisele Bundchen wore Oscar de la Renta on the red carpet at the AFI Life Achievement Award honoring Morgan Freeman held last night at LA's Sony Pictures Studios. The supermodel said hello to the man himself, hugging Morgan and the Brazilian TV presenter Hebe Camargo. Gisele also caught up with Morgan's daughter Alexia before moving inside to mingle with other celeb guests like Clint Eastwood, Matthew Broderick, Matthew McConaughey, Casey Affleck, Betty White, and Helen Mirren. Morgan's Amistad costar Matthew McConaughey rocked a new look with his handlebar mustache, though his girlfriend, Camila Alves, didn't seem to mind the new facial fuzz. Morgan said a few words about his career and humbly acknowledged one special role in Bruce Almighty. Morgan Freeman said of his AFI honor, "I should be ashamed to say that sooner or later, I knew that someone was going to call on me to play God. I just had to be sure that when I said OK, that it was a comedy."

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick joined another acting couple, Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts, at the Broadway debut of Knickerbocker in NYC last night. SJP and Matthew posed with the play's director while Naomi and Liev made their way inside hand in hand. Naomi and Liev are back in the Big Apple following a fun family getaway to Barbados in April. Meanwhile, SJP and Matthew have been in NYC this month. The couple celebrated Mother's Day with their three children, and while Matthew didn't join her at the recent Met Gala, she took her good friend Andy Cohen from Bravo as her date to the Alexander McQueen tribute. Last weekend Sarah Jessica jetted off for a quick trip to the Cannes Film Festival, where she shared a sneak peek at her upcoming romantic comedy I Don't Know How She Does It. Sarah Jessica also talked about rumors of The Carrie Diaries movie during her time in France, saying she'd support it if the script, cast, and writers were right. She also hinted that she thinks there might be another Carrie Bradshaw story to tell in another Sex and the City installment.

Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband, Matthew Broderick, were all smiles at the New York City Ballet Spring gala in Manhattan yesterday. The couple got formal for the event with SJP, who's on the board of the organization, wearing a Valentino gown and Matthew breaking out his tux and bow tie. SJP's appearance was her latest in a string of nights out on the town. There was Monday's Robin Hood Foundation bash, to which Sarah Jessica rocked some big hair, as well as the Met Ball, where she honored Alexander McQueen by wearing one of his designs. Her social schedule hasn't gotten in the way of her family life, since SJP spent a sweet Mother's Day with her twins and James Wilkie last weekend.
