BBC director General Mark Thompson has just announced that Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross are to be suspended and all their shows taken off air until the BBC has investigated the prank calls they made to Andrew Sachs during a show on Radio 2. Russell put on a brave face as he ran errands around London yesterday, but today the situation has become all the more serious, after 10,000 complaints were made and Prime Minister Gordon Brown said the prank was "clearly inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour". When I asked you what you thought about the situation, the majority of you thought the prank was hurtful: do you feel this latest action is justified?

Hmmm not sure; that'll probably be publicity for Brand.
1This is such a joke! That Georgina girl should be embarrassed with herself on two accounts, 1) she is in a group called the Satanic Sluts and 2) she slept with Russel Brand and thought he wouldn't speak of it! I think this is just shameless publicity for her burlesque group.
If you download a Russell Brand podcast you are not expecting it to be about gardening, knitting and all things nice! He is always offensive. If the BBC sack either of them they will just go to another channel so a waste o'time all round...
2I just think it's funny that the Prime Minister has gotten involved.
3im surprised that the BBC actually did something. Im not sure if its all got a bit over the top - like digestivediscuit says, its a bit strange the PM is involved!?
4this is absurd. it's ALL over the news. it's become a freakish witch hunt. there is NO WAY russell or jonathan should be in any form of trouble. if the bbc really want to punish someone, it should be the editors.
this is just crap.
5Lot's of people jumping on the complaining bandwagon. The fact that the call was pre recorded and then used is wrong... But only 2 people who we're actually listening complained at the time...(18th Oct) Dam press/media for turning it into this big who ha...
I bet ITV are rubbing their hands at the thought of Jonathan Ross being on the market!
6i'm starting to think that maybe the media *has* stirred it out of proportion, but maybe these egos needed a little deflating. to me, russell brand epitomises all that is wrong with british 'celebs', ie people who crave 'validation' in the form of a magazine deal etc. can't stand him, and yes, because i can't stand him i choose not to watch or listen to any show he presents, or whatever he may write. hmm, better get back to work!
7im glad that the british media seem to actualy have some morals again, i just dont get how anything can justify what he did, he has been sort of funny in the past {waaay back} but to me he is so not a comedian wheres the wittyness in this 'prank' if a normal person did this it would be called abusive....some celeb' loser does it and its a joke...,.
