Katie Holmes got the chance to accept the Max Mara Face of the Future honor at the Crystal + Lucy Awards in LA last night. It was announced that she would be the recipient earlier this year, and she already celebrated the win with a dinner hosted by Max Mara and Vanity Fair on Wednesday. Katie had the support of her parents, Martin and Kathleen, backstage after she took the microphone, and she also made time to pose with bright young star Elle Fanning. Elle and Tom Cruise had their own moment for the cameras when they were snapped together at the Super 8 premiere last week. The Women in Film fundraiser, which was hosted by Bridesmaids funny girl Melissa McCarthy, also brought out Rose McGowan, Annette Bening, and Neil Patrick Harris among others. Annette picked up the Crystal Award for her excellence in film while Neil stepped out for the event just one day after turning 38.

Yes, I thought exactly the same, Frida83. These awars are just silly. If the Face of the Future went to Elle Fanning, it would make sense, but to the wife of Tom Cruise who has been known to the larger publish for about 15 years or so? I guess it is just a way to create awareness about MaxMara - and Kate probably fits better with who the brand is targeting than a 13 year old Elle. I do wish Elle hap opted for something slightly less circus-like and more of MaxMaras timeless elegance.

Anyone else thinks it's weird that Katie Holmes got 'The Face of the Future'? She's been around for years and hasn't made a movie in ages.

Katie is looking SO great recently! I agree @ilanac13 when she seems comfortable she just exudes confidence and looks so stunning! Also totally agree with what you said about Elle's dress, it just overpowers her a little.

katie looks GREAT here! i can't believe how much better she looks when she's relaxed and in her element. as for elle - that dress is taking her over - and it's wearing her. poor girl - she's really cute but maybe she should have picked something that wasn't so over powering.
