From new recruit Lupita Nyong'o to returning favourite Julia Roberts, the big nominees are running the gamut. Plus, between Jennifer Lawrence's deluge of Dior looks during her recent Hunger Games: Catching Fire tour, Sandra Bullock's eye-catching blue dress in Japan, and Cate Blanchett's stunning ensembles in Dubai, we have a feeling the 2014 SAG Awards may set the style bar that much higher this award season. Which nominee are you most looking forward to seeing on the carpet?
Nominations for the 2014 SAG Awards were announced this morning, and we've got all the details! Jennifer Lawrence garnered a nomination for her supporting performance in American Hustle, which was also nominated for outstanding cast performance. The biggest nominee is 12 Years a Slave, which earned a nomination for outstanding cast performance in addition to individual nods for Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lupita Nyong'o, and Michael Fassbender. Dallas Buyers Club was also nominated for best cast, and Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto both scored individual nods.
The television nominees were mostly standby favorites, including Modern Family (plus individual nods for Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen), Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, and The Big Bang Theory. Interestingly, Netflix continued its lucky streak, scoring nominations for House of Cards' Kevin Spacey and Arrested Development's Jason Bateman. It's also nice to see Elisabeth Moss and Holly Hunter get more recognition for Top of the Lake as well as Peter Dinklage for Game of Thrones. The SAG Awards ceremony will air Jan. 18 on TBS and TNT. Jennifer Lawrence was the woman of the hour at The Weinstein Company's post-SAG Awards party hosted by Fiji Water at Sunset Tower in LA last night. She picked up the award for best actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook and celebrated with costars Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro at the bash. Jennifer also posed alongside fellow nominee Naomi Watts, who presented at the show with Liev Schreiber. Jennifer's big night wasn't dampened by her recent walking-pneumonia diagnosis, which she's battling with "a lot of medication," or by the fact that she almost ripped her dress while heading to the stage to accept her statue.
