For a long time running, it seemed People had a monopoly on introductory celebaby photos. Nicole Richie, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, and the Jolie-Pitts all turned to the well-established magazine to show off their newest family members. However, today, many celebs are turning to competitors who are doling out generous offerings to new parents. Others are releasing their own photos — either on their own or through photo agencies — to bypass the whole magazine scenario. See how your favorite Tinseltown parents — Malin Akerman being the most recent — debuted their little ones, and tell us how you think the newest Hollywood babies will be introduced to us!
Shakira and her boyfriend, Gerard Piqué, cozied up in the stands at the Euroleague basketball playoffs in Barcelona yesterday. They watched as Barcelona Regal beat Panathinaikos Athens and celebrated by kissing in the crowd. The duo had even more to be excited about last night since Shakira won multiple prizes at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. She wasn't on hand to pick up her statues at the ceremony in Miami, but she did get honored with social artist of the year, streaming artist of the year, and female song artist of the year. Shakira's also showing off her musical expertise as a coach on The Voice, which is currently in its fourth season. Things are heating up with the competition's knockout rounds taking place this Monday after all of the coaches finalized their teams this week.
Gerard Piqué dropped off his girlfriend, Shakira, and their baby son, Milan, at the Barcelona airport yesterday. Before the family parted ways, Shakira and Gerard held each other and shared a kiss goodbye.
Shakira and Milan have been bicontinental while she focuses on her judging duties for NBC's The Voice, where she is quickly making her competitive presence known. During the show's first night of battle rounds on Monday, Shakira swiftly used both her steals to pick up two acts from veteran judge Adam Levine. Baby Milan has taken to the judge's seat as well and was pictured on set with Shakira last week. The new mom is apparently snap-happy on and off her show set. On Monday, Shakira tweeted another photo of Milan, saying, "I swore I would never do this and now I am one of those annoying moms showing pics of her baby!"
The Voice returned to NBC this week, with a couple of new butts in those red rotating chairs. Usher and Shakira are currently replacing Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera, giving the musical competition an interesting new twist. Usher — who already has his own signature sitting position — tried to woo contestants to his team with slick lines (and the casual Justin Bieber mention). Shakira tried to represent the ladies as best she could, gushing about her passion for various contestants and even whipping out a Southern accent to land a country singer.
Even if you prefer the old coaches, it's still fun to get some new banter combinations in there: Adam Levine teased Shakira for not being American, and pretty much everyone had to acknowledge the fact that Usher might know more about the star-making business than anyone. We'll have to wait and see how they fare as coaches, but what do you think of Usher and Shakira so far?
Shakira posed with photographer Jaume de Laiguana at his art exhibition in Barcelona yesterday. It was Shakira's first public appearance since giving birth to her son in January. Shortly after, Shakira and her boyfriend, Gerard Piqué, shared the first pictures of baby Milan on their UNICEF website in connection with their philanthropic world baby shower. The virtual event encouraged donations in Milan's name and has since raised enough money to fund 80,000 polio vaccines, 3.8 tons of food, and more for underprivileged children around the world.
Shakira will soon turn her focus back to business since the fourth season of The Voice premieres later this month. She's a new judge on the singing competition and will join Usher, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton in front of the cameras.
Shakira posted the first picture of her newborn son, Milan Piqué, on her and boyfriend Gerard Piqué's UNICEF website this morning. The couple created the special page to encourage donations in Milan's name that will benefit underprivileged children around the world.
Shakira gave birth to Milan two weeks ago and announced the happy news on her personal website. While Shakira was pregnant, she posed for sexy photos with Gerard and showed off her bump in a bikini top. Milan is the first child for both Shakira and Gerard.
Congrats to Shakira and Gerard Piqué, who welcomed a baby boy, Milan Piqué Mebarak, to the world yesterday! The singer and new coach on The Voice announced the arrival of the new addition on her official website, adding: "The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn) means dear, loving, and gracious in Slavic; in ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification. Just like his father [a Spanish soccer star], baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth."
