It was a big night in France as the Cannes Film Festival kicked off with the opening ceremony and the premiere of The Great Gatsby! Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, and Tobey Maguire all hit the red carpet after dressing up for a photocall to promote their film, which is at the festival out of competition, earlier today. Cindy Crawford also showed her support in a white Roberto Cavalli gown while Julianne Moore, Freida Pinto, and juror Nicole Kidman walked the red carpet as well — make sure to check out all the glamorous looks from the Great Gatsby premiere.

They aren't the only stars descending on the French Riviera, since Justin Timberlake, Christoph Waltz, Kirsten Dunst, and others have already arrived to take part in the film festival fun. Leonardo DiCaprio suited up to join his The Great Gatsby leading lady, Carey Mulligan, to kick off the Cannes Film Festival with a glamorous photocall for their film today. Leo and Balenciaga-clad Carey were joined by the rest of their costars, Isla Fisher, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, as well as the film's director, Baz Luhrmann, as the annual festival got under way in the South of France. It was a busy day for the Gatsby crew, who also participated in a press conference to discuss the film that opened in the US last Friday. Gatsby will make its European premiere tonight in Cannes. The Great Gatsby boasted impressive numbers in its first week, raking in $51.1 million from its US debut.

Leo and his longtime friend Tobey Maguire were reunited at the festival after pairing up earlier this week in NYC. Tobey showed his support at Leonardo's Christie's auction, which raised $35 million to benefit environmental and wildlife conservation efforts, a cause that is backed by the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation.

Leonardo DiCaprio teamed up with Christie's to cohost the 11th Hour Auction in NYC last night. It was a successful event for Leo since the auction reportedly raised $35 million to benefit environmental and wildlife conservation efforts, almost doubling the goal of $18 million. He had the support of his longtime friend and Great Gatsby costar Tobey Maguire, who put in a winning bid on one of 33 pieces of contemporary art. Leo contributed something from his own art collection, a print called "Ocean V" by well-known photographer Andreas Gursky. Also out for the evening were Bradley Cooper, Mark Ruffalo, and Salma Hayek.

It was Leonardo's second art-inspired outing in as many days, since he also made an appearance at the Brant Foundation Art Study Center's Andy Warhol showing in Greenwich, CT, on Sunday. He'll be switching gears from art to film in the coming days, though, when he debuts The Great Gatsby in Cannes later this week.

Emma Stone and Miranda Kerr were among the celebs who stepped out last night for the ninth annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards in NYC. As in years past, the attendees dressed up in clothes by — and attend the event with — a certain designer. Ashley Greene donned a racy Wes Gordon number, arriving with Wes himself. Ashley and Dakota Fanning, who donned Jason Wu, were fresh from LA and Monday's US premiere of Breaking Dawn Part 2. Emma Stone wore Burberry Prorsum to mingle with that brand's creative director, Christopher Bailey, and help hand out the night's big honors. The evening's main prize, a $300,000 grant to grow a business, went to Greg Chait of The Elder Statesman. Shoe designer Tabitha Simmons was the first runner-up, with jewelry maven Jennifer Meyer Maguire as second runner-up. Both Tabitha and Jennifer received $100,000 for their companies, and Jennifer was able to celebrate into the night alongside her husband, Tobey Maguire.

Baz Luhrmann's forthcoming film adaptation of The Great Gatsby has been slowly coming together for months now, and a major piece has just been added to the puzzle: Joel Edgerton will play Tom Buchanan. The Aussie actor joins some of Hollywood's finest, but the rumors and recast news have been a bit difficult to keep track of. That's why I've compiled the current cast right here so you can see who's who in the upcoming film.

  • Leonardo DiCaprio will play Jay Gatsby, a mysterious millionaire who throws lavish parties at his home in the West Egg neighborhood on Long Island.
  • Carey Mulligan will play Daisy Buchanan, an attractive but spoiled young woman who lives in the East Egg with her husband, Tom, and has an affair with Gatsby, whom she was in love with before getting married.
  • Tobey Maguire will play Nick Carraway (who narrates the novel), Daisy's cousin who comes to New York after fighting in World War I and is pulled into the world of Gatsby's parties for the rich and their drama.
  • Isla Fisher will play Myrtle Wilson, Tom Buchanan's mistress.
  • Joel Edgerton will play Tom Buchanan, Daisy's husband and millionaire who is a former football player. (The role was originally attached to Ben Affleck.)
  • Newcomer Elizabeth Debicki will play Jordan Baker, a pro golfer and friend of Daisy's who takes a liking to Nick when he comes to town.
  • Jason Clarke, who most recently appeared on the now-defunct TV series The Chicago Code, will play George Wilson, Myrtle's husband.
