Usher has never been shy about showing off his fit physique or sharing his workout tips, so it makes total sense he appears as the star of November's Men's Health magazine cover. In the issue, which also marks the publication's 25th anniversary, Usher talks about training for his upcoming role as legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard in the movie Hands of Stone. It sounds like it came pretty easy to the R&B star and The Voice coach, who said, "I train like an athlete every day, believe it or not." On the similarities between hitting the ring and hitting the stage, Usher mused, "Fighters and dancers train to gain a measure of control over the outcome. If either deviates from his plan, the result is typically ugly." He added, "I think we all reach a point in life where we're not able to listen to common sense. You almost have to fall to get up sometimes." Usher will likely have a lot to celebrate this month, as his Men's Health cover hits newsstands on Oct. 15, just one day after his 35th birthday.

The American Music Awards went down in LA on Sunday night! Usher opened a show that went on to feature many performances from some of the biggest stars in the music industry. Gwen Stefani and the guys of No Doubt put on a show, as did Kelly Clarkson and Ke$ha. Taylor Swift performed her soon-to-be-released single "I Knew You Were Trouble." She changed out of the gold Zuhair Murad number she wore on the red carpet and into two elaborate costumes. Justin Bieber hit the stage too for a rendition of his songs "As Long as You Love Me" and "Beauty and a Beat." Pink put on an acrobatic, energetic performance, and Christina Aguilera wore a tiny costume to sing a song of her own.
As for the awards, Taylor and Justin were big winners. After arriving with his mom, Pattie Mallette, as his date, Justin picked up an early honor for best pop or rock male artist. He was also recognized with favorite pop/rock album and, right at the end of the show, artist of the year. Taylor, meanwhile, was crowned favorite female country artist. Further honors went to best new artist Carly Rae Jepsen and favorite country band Lady Antebellum. Carrie Underwood also has a new statue to celebrate with, having won best country album — check out the full list of American Music Awards winners!
Usher hit the town last night for the second annual Pencils of Promise gala at Guastavino's in NYC. He met up with friends Scooter Braun and Adam Braun, the organization's founder, on the red carpet, where Jessica Szohr, Cash Warren, and Jessica Stam also posed.
Inside the event, Usher was honored by Pencils of Promise for his work in helping to create schools and sustainable education programs around the world. The evening also included a performance by singer Tory Kelly and an auction, with proceeds benefiting the charity. Usher donated private dance lessons, though he also got in on the bidding himself. Usher bid $12,000 for a Goldendoodle puppy and came away with a win over Jessica Szohr, who offered $11,000. After the victory, he tweeted, "It took me 2 years but I outbid everyone this year to bring Poppy home."
Britney Spears had her second night out in a row yesterday at the "We Will Always Love You" Grammy salute to Whitney Houston held at the Nokia Theatre at LA Live. Britney posed on the carpet alongside stars like Halle Berry, Taraji P. Henson, and more Whitney fans. Inside, Britney took the stage, as did Halle, while Jennifer Hudson and Usher were among the performers. On Wednesday night, Britney and her fiancé Jason Trawick stepped out for the City of Hope charity's Spirit of Life Awards. Jason was also on hand to keep Britney company last night. She tweeted a picture of them together at LA Live's backstage, captioning it, "Backstage at The Whitney Houston Tribute. Such a solemn occasion. Jason's doing his best to put a smile on my face."
The social week comes during Britney's busy season of The X Factor, and on last night's episode, we got to see the latest developments for the talent working with Brit and the other judges on the show. Working on Simon Cowell's reality program is helping Britney accumulate quite the fortune — new court documents released this week show Britney Spears's net worth to be over $32 million.
Last night's BET Awards, held at the Shrine Auditorium in LA, were equal parts celebratory and reflective as the stars in attendance honored each other and paid tribute to Whitney Houston. Beyoncé Knowles looked stunning in Stéphane Rolland and was one of the evening's big winners, as was husband Jay-Z, who made a surprise appearance on stage. Jay and Kanye West took home a couple statues for their work together on Watch the Throne. Kanye's BET date, girlfriend Kim Kardashian, tweeted how proud she was of his "dope" performance. Usher brought the house down with his single "Climax," and D'Angelo made a big return, having not released new music in 12 years.
Perhaps the most memorable part of the evening, however, was the heartfelt tribute to Whitney Houston. Mariah Carey spoke about the legendary singer, and there was barely a dry eye in the house — including Beyoncé, who sang along as she cried — when Whitney's own mother, Cissy, took the stage. Monica also took part, singing "I Love the Lord," while Brandy shared a joyful rendition of "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and "I'm Your Baby Tonight." Chaka Khan belted out "I'm Every Woman," and Whitney's Waiting to Exhale castmates joined in on the special occasion. Check out all the 2012 BET Award winners here.

Carrie Underwood, who brought husband Mike Fisher, performed "Blown Away" in a glamorous red dress, while Natasha Bedingfield sang a tribute to the late Donna Summer. Katy Perry rocked the crowd with the debut of her new single, "Wide Awake," and Usher brought "Scream" to the stage.
Justin Bieber took the microphone as well with "Boyfriend." Jordin Sparks shared a moving rendition of "I Will Always Love You," honoring Whitney Houston, after John Legend kicked it off with "The Greatest Love of All." Bobbi Kristina then accepted the millennium award for her mom, saying, "I'm just blessed to have been in such an incredible woman's life." There were many more statues given out this evening with Julianne Hough presenting Justin with top social artist. New Girl's Zooey Deschanel was on hand to introduce Billboard's woman of the year, Taylor Swift.

The annual Latin Grammys in Las Vegas last night got a dose of star power with appearances from Zoe Saldana, Sofia Vergara, Demi Lovato, Usher, and others. Zoe made a statement in a bold green Elie Saab gown after Gwyneth Paltrow stepped out in a similar dress by the designer yesterday. Sofia and Zoe shared the stage to present an award while Demi took the microphone for a performance with singer Pablo Alboran. Shakira was one of the evening's big winners, since she grabbed the awards for Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Album. She topped off her exciting night by singing "Antes de las Seis" from her Sale El Sol album.
