Maintaining a blond mane requires constant touch-ups to keep root growth at bay, but the stars are keeping their hair colour relaxed this Summer with a surprising trend: visible roots. Kate Hudson was out in London last week for the Novak Djokovic Foundation gala wearing her blond hair in a loose updo. The pulled-back style showed off her natural, darker hair colour at her roots. Earlier in the week, actress Vera Farmiga hit the red carpet for The Conjuring with a sleek, deep side-parted hairstyle, which showcased her darkened roots that were tucked behind her ear. And Julianne Hough's two-toned hair colour looked edgy and intentional with chunky, textured strands, while Blake Lively's golden blond waves looked completely effortless and beachy with her grown-out roots. Clearly Hollywood is taking a break from hair colour appointments, but what do you think of this trend?
Sarah Jessica Parker seemed to take the snow theme to heart last night when she attended UNICEF's Snowflake ball in a pouffy Louis Vuitton number. She attended the gala at Cipriani 42nd Street with other stars like Zoe Kravitz, Uma Thurman, Adrien Brody, and Mark Ruffalo. Zoe made the rounds inside while decked out in a Chanel ensemble that had feathery details just like SJP's.
Sarah Jessica and her family are home in the Big Apple again after spending Thanksgiving with Matthew's sister in New Jersey. SJP and Matthew attended a mass at Morristown's St. Peter's Episcopal Church, where his sister is a pastor. Their son, James Wilkie, had a lesson on the organ, then over 20 members of their extended family sat down to enjoy a 27-pound turkey!
The 2011 Gotham Independent Film Awards helped kick off the season of red-carpet gowns, acceptance speeches, and star-studded celebrations in NYC yesterday. Award season is officially around the corner, and the action will really start heating up when the nominations for the Film Independent Spirit Awards come out later this morning. At last night's party, Charlize Theron wowed in a revealing Gucci dress as she joined her Young Adult costar Patton Oswalt on stage. Elizabeth Olsen wore Valentino and was a nominee in the Best Breakthrough Actor category for her role in Martha Marcy May Marlene, though the statue went to Like Crazy's Felicity Jones in the end. The big winners during the show were The Tree of Life and Beginners, which tied for Best Feature. Check out all the Gotham Awards winners on Hollywood Reporter.

Source Code stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Vera Farmiga and Michelle Monaghan reunited Friday night at the SXSW Festival premiere of their romantic and action packed flick. Jake had an unfortunate run-in with a fan that night when an over zealous photographer snapped a picture of the star in a bathroom. Things got heated for a few moments but police stepped in and the photo was deleted. During Saturday's discussion panel Jake had this to say about the incident, "I think it’s an appropriate space to keep privacy. I hope that people wouldn’t disagree with me on that." We agree with Jake and who would want to go head-to-head against his army of well toned muscles?
The 2010 Academy Awards finally arrived last night, and what a show it was! The beauty was fabulous on the whole. I loved Best Actress Sandra Bullock's look, with sleek dark hair and a splash of scarlet lipstick. I also loved Kate Winslet's hair, which while retro influenced as usual, seemed looser than her previous red carpet styles.Hair ran from loosely tied up dos, like Anna Kendrick's, through to more structural extravaganzas like Sarah Jessica Parker's 1960s look. Personally, I loved Parker's style, though I know blogosphere was divided on it! The emphasis on makeup, meanwhile, was low key and au naturelle with lots of nudes and soft blushes. It was the most glamourous night of the Hollywood year as the ladies took to the red carpet for the Oscars! All eyes were on Kristen Stewart as she glammed up in a gorgeous black dress, Carey Mulligan also went for black and the nominee looked happy on the red carpet as she cosied up with Maggie Gyllenhaal and walked alongside fellow Brits Kate Winslet and Helen Mirren. Gabourey Sidibe, Mariah Carey and Mo'Nique showed that blue was the colour for the Precious ladies, with Gabby saying she felt like she was at "Hollywood prom"! Sarah Jessica Parker looked suitably stylish in Chanel, while Avatar's Zoe Saldana looked lovely in lavender. Let me know which your favourite red carpet looks are!
The stars were in great spirits following the BAFTA awards last night, as they went for dinner at Grosvenor House Hotel and then partied at Soho House! The winners, including Carey Mulligan, Colin Firth and Kathryn Bigelow, posed with their awards, and Carey and Claire Danes were among the stars that stopped to sign autographs for the waiting fans outside. Bonnie Wright and Jamie Campbell Bower had a fun time, playing games and making faces as they sipped on their drinks, Aaron Johnson was amusingly protective over his fiancee Sam Taylor-Wood's baby bump, and Gabourey Sidibe got a warm hug from Jeremy Renner.
Anna Kendrick, Saoirse Ronan and Audrey Tautou looked cute as they posed for photos, while Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart left the party together! Other guests included James Corden, George Lamb, Tom Ford, Tahar Rahim and Nicholas Hoult, while Little Boots and The Saturdays performed.

Lots of big stars walked the red carpet outside the Royal Opera House in London this evening for the BAFTAs. Fabulous females chose suitably glamorous gowns, from Orange Rising Star nominee Kristen Stewart's short white number to presenters Claire Danes' fabulous full-length silver dress and Kate Winslet long black creation. BAFTA Fellowship recipient Vanessa Redgrave looked wonderful alongside her daughter Joely Richardson.
Bonnie Wright was one of many women wearing neutral colours, as was Jaime Winstone, who looked glam with her 1950s' makeup and hair. Pregnant Anne-Marie Duff matched her dress and lipstick to the red carpet, while nominees Carey Mulligan and Anna Kendrick dazzled. Tonight, she looks stylish and sophisticated in a black and white gown with makeup that isn't too overdone. Her hair has been constructed into (what must be extensions because it's short right now) a low chignon and smoothed, yet not slicked back. Do you like her hair styled this way?
