American Idol has been a bit of a mess since Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez announced that they were leaving, but the reality competition just snagged a huge new celebrity judge: Mariah Carey. Fox president Kevin Reilly announced this morning that Mariah has inked a deal to sit on the judges' panel next year, and the songstress confirmed it herself on the phone, saying, "I'm so excited to be joining Idol. I can't wait to get started in a couple months. I will see you in January!" Mariah will easily fill the seat left by Jennifer Lopez, and I think she'll provide a much-needed breath of fresh air to the show. The speculation continues on who the third judge will be, but for now, how do you feel about Carey joining the show?

Millions of fans tuned in last night for American Idol's two-hour, star-studded season finale. Ryan Seacrest was decked out in a tux to take in the powerful performances, later announcing 17-year-old Scotty McCreery as this year's champion — do you agree with the season 10 American Idol winner? The top 13 contestants returned to sing and dance throughout the show, as did Beyoncé Knowles, Lady Gaga, and even Idol judge Steven Tyler. Carrie Underwood arrived in a Lorena Sarbu dress then joined finalist Lauren Alaina for a duet of "Before He Cheats," and Scotty teamed up with country legend Tim McGraw on "Live Like You Were Dying." Beyonce took the stage twice, first doing a medley of her own hits like "Crazy in Love" with contestants and then a solo of her new single "One Plus One." Marc Anthony got the crowd on their feet with a Latin beat as Jennifer Lopez shook it in a hot fringed costume. Lady Gaga, U2, Tony Bennett, Jack Black, and Gladys Knight also joined in the fun before Scotty celebrated his accomplishment by belting out his first original track, "I Love You This Big."

Joshua Jackson, Gordon Ramsay, Keri Russell and Jon Voight Get Gleeful at Fox TCA

It was Fox's turn to promote all its new shows at the TCA in LA earlier this week.

It was Fox's turn to promote all its new shows at the TCA in LA earlier this week. Everyone was looking for a big announcement on American Idol, but the executives had no official news and weren't looking to confirm or deny any rumours — soon they say, but no contracts have been signed yet. Gordon Ramsay weighed in with his ideas! Jon Voight was excited to chat about Lone Star at the evening's Santa Monica Pier bash. He divulged that his family, including Angelina Jolie and her kids, are all doing great and he's excited to make a home in Texas for this show. When it came to Joshua Jackson, the hot topic of course was Pacey-Con — PopUS chatted with Josh about his Dawson's Creek love. He said it was the result of an idea that he originally had, and he had fun seeing the reaction of everyone at Comic-Con.

The Glee kids were graciously happy to chat. Lea Michele looked gorgeous and in great spirits, despite a car accident scare earlier in the night, while Mark Salling was all about the carnival games. The whole crew was thrilled about all their Emmy nominations, and check out more with Buzz's report. Running Wilde's Keri Russell and Will Arnett were briefly in town before starting to reshoot their pilot in Long Island today, though they still kept everyone cracking up during their panel. Read highlights from all the panels on Buzz!
