Gwyneth Paltrow and REM's Michael Stipe attended the Food Bank For New York City's 5th Annual Can-Do Awards Dinner last night. The event, which marks the Food Bank's 25th anniversary, saw a pretty array of dresses on the likes of Helena Christensen and Petra Nemcova, who got up close with chef Mario Batali. Mario will be starring with Gwyneth in travel food show Spain... On The Road Again and it sounds like the actress has found somewhere she likes more than the UK. She said, "Spain is my favourite country outside of the US - it's just so full of amazing people, food and culture". Gwyneth, who was given top honours by the Food Bank, also said:
"I grew up in this city, and I worked in soup kitchens throughout high school, so being back here is like a full circle. I'm just thrilled to be here and to help in any way I can. As celebrities, we are given so much and we are very blessed. With that comes a real responsibility to give back, share, give money, time and attention to people and causes that need it."
