There's no doubt that Voldemort is the baddest
Harry Potter villain of them all, but the Dark Lord wasn't able to rise to power alone. Throughout all seven books and movies, Harry has had nemeses in various forms — from fellow students to teachers to house-elves. As we continue to gear up for the very last movie in the series, let's recount the rivalries that Harry and his friends have dealt with on the long journey to the final showdown. (Warning: if you haven't read the books, some spoilers ahead.)
Baddie background: Hogwarts's Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher in Harry's first year.
Most vile moment: Under Voldemort's influence, Quirrell allows the Dark Lord to live in his head (literally) and drinks unicorn blood in the Forbidden Forest to keep Voldemort strong. (Oh, and he tries to kill Harry, but who can forget when he slays that innocent unicorn?)

The Dursley Family
Baddie background: When the Potters are killed by Voldemort, Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and cousin Dursley take Harry in but treat him like their servant.
Most vile moment: The Durselys are chock-full of abuse, but it's hard to top their ongoing efforts to keep Harry out of Hogwarts in The Sorcerer's Stone — they even try taking him to the middle of nowhere to keep the letters away!

Peter Pettigrew aka Wormtail
Baddie background: A Voldemort supporter who went into hiding as his animagus self, a rat, for many years before resurfacing as the Dark Lord's right hand man.
Most vile moment: A one-time friend of Harry's parents, Peter served up the Potters to Voldemort and left them for dead, framing Sirius Black for his crime.

Baddie background: A member of Slytherin house, Death Eater, and father to Harry's nemesis, Draco Malfoy.
Most vile moment: Lucius slips Tom Riddle's enchanted diary into poor Ginny Weasley's school supplies, which causes her to open the Chamber of Secrets.

Baddie background: Loyal Death Eater and one-time Azkaban prisoner, Bellatrix is one of Voldemort's most loyal and ruthless followers.
Most vile moment: Though we don't get to see it happen, I've always hated Bellatrix for using the Cruciatus curse to torture Neville Longbottom's parents into insanity.

Barty Crouch Jr.
Baddie background: Servant to Lord Voldemort and son of the Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation (Barty Crouch Sr.).
Most vile moment: Barty Jr. uses polyjuice potion to pose as Mad-Eye Moody, thus manipulating the Triwizard Tournament andluring Harry straight into Voldemort's clutches in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Baddie background: Dark creatures that feed off human happiness, the Dementors are used to guard Azkaban. They are also able to perform "the Dementor's kiss" which sucks out one's soul forever. Creepy.
Most vile moment: Before Harry is able to conjure his Patronus Charm, the Dementors nearly suck the life out of Sirius at Hogwarts. I have chills just thinking about it.
7 / 15
Baddie background: A pure-blood wizard from a line of Slytherins, Draco starts off as Harry's obnoxious nemesis and grows into a conflicted pawn and servant of Voldemort — but his rivalry with Harry never abates.
Most vile moment: Since I admittedly felt a bit sympathetic for Draco when he was doing Death Eater things (like giving Katie the cursed necklace), my most memorable evil moment from Draco is when he crushes Harry's nose on the Hogwarts express in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
8 / 15
Baddie background: A curmudgeon of a house-elf, Kreacher serves the Black household, which includes Harry's godfather Sirius.
Most vile moment: Though he's technically following orders from Sirius to "get out," Kreacher indirectly causes his master's death by leaking secrets of the Order of the Phoenix to Voldemort's Death Eaters.
9 / 15
Baddie background: I know Snape ended up being good, but there's no denying his villainous ways over the course of seven Harry Potter books. The Potions/Defense Against the Dark Arts professor not only hated Harry's father, but he projects his distaste for Harry every chance he can.
Most vile moment: Even though he's protecting Draco and honoring his pact, Snape kills Dumbledore. 'Nuff said.
11 / 15
Baddie background: Don't let that sickeningly sweet exterior fool you: Dolores Umbridge is one of the most frustratingly mean and ignorant characters in Harry Potter history. She rises to power as Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and eventually headmistress in Harry's fifth year, making his life a living hell in Dumbledore's absence.
Most vile moment: When Umbridge forces Harry to use a quill that etches "I will not tell lies" into his own skin as a punishment for something he didn't do, I was scarred too.
11 / 15
Baddie background: An evil werewolf with a haunting mission: to bite and turn as many innocent people as possible into werewolves.
Most vile moment: In an effort to turn Hogwarts students, Greyback gets involved in a battle at the Astronomy Tower — and badly scars Bill Weasley.
12 / 15
Baddie background: Say what you will about the Slytherin house, but seven Harry Potter books only convinced me that words like "ambitious" and "cunning" are code for "power-hungry" and "mean." Draco Malfoy's best buds Crabbe, Goyle, and Pansy Parkinson only help this cause.
Most vile moment: In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Draco and his friends rally around the Ministry of Magic forming the Inquisitorial Squad and treating their fellow students unfairly as a show of power.
13 / 15
Baddie background: A reporter for The Daily Prophet who isn't afraid to bend the truth to sell papers.
Most vile moment: Rita isn't as devious as a Death Eater, but she makes Harry's life more difficult by portraying him as an attention seeking student with a crush on Hermione in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
14 / 15
Baddie background: Tom Riddle was raised in an orphanage where he discovered his penchant for evil and power. He learned to channel his skills at Hogwarts, but it wasn't long before he turned to dark magic and became the most powerful Dark wizard of all time.
Most vile moment: How could I possibly choose just one? Voldemort is one of the most depraved characters of all time, managing to kill hundreds without mercy and striving to wipe out entire races — all without a nose.
