Sam Mendes and Kate Winslet have split up, their lawyers announced today. The couple, who married in 2003 and have a son together, separated earlier this year.

Their lawyers stated:

"Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children. They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family."

Kate recently appeared at the Oscars to present the best actor award, she has also been spotted in Mexico on holiday with her family this week.

Following his heartbreaking injury yesterday, David Beckham left his Milan hotel on crutches today to fly to Finland to see a specialist for an operation on his ruptured Achilles tendon. He waved as he drove past fans and photographers with a pensive expression on his grazed face. His focus will now shift away from the possibility of playing in the World Cup and on to recovery before perhaps rejoining LA Galaxy in the late summer if all goes well. The official statement on his website reads:

"David is on his way to Finland to see a specialist and have a scan on the injury. He is understandably upset but wants to thank everyone for their messages of support. He hopes to make a swift and full recovery."

Katie Price wore white as she presented at the VIP Style Awards in Dublin over the weekend, where she hung out with her pal Michelle Heaton. It was a girls' night out, but Kate's hubby Alex Reid is never far from her mind, and she is said to be planning another wedding with Alex, despite denying claims that her first Las Vegas wedding is illegal. Kate has also reportedly been thinking about her ex, and apparently believes Peter Andre and Kerry Katona will get together now that Kerry has signed up with Pete's management company. Pete is reportedly hoping to buy a house in Brighton, and has also received work offers in Australia.

Friends star David Schwimmer has got engaged to his British girlfriend, photographer Zoe Buckman, his rep has confirmed.

The couple reportedly met in London in 2007 while David was directing Run Fatboy Run, and Zoe was working as a waitress and served David's table at Cuckoo Club in the West End.

Like another recently engaged pair, there is quite an age difference between 43-year-old David and 24-year-old Zoe. Congratulations to the happy couple!
