Carrot Leg Trousers for Spring 2009

Trend Alert: Carrot Leg Trousers

Topshop at ShopStyle

This season trousers are very important and they, of course, have a new shape. Somewhere between harem pants and tailored trousers come the carrot leg. Their name comes from the shape as they are wide around the hips and then tailored to the ankle.

They're quite a smart addition to any wardrobe but can be dressed down with a printed t-shirt and a pair of funky flats. Add in a plaited belt for a retro feel.

Topshop have a couple of pairs in different shades from £38 or if you have a larger budget then why not invest in Philip Lim's high waisted style (£325)? Turn them up slightly and wear with a blazer for a smart summertime ensemble.

See below for more examples of carrot leg trousers available now. What do you think of the new trouser shape?

absolutely not! sorry Jacrabbit but I dont even think kate moss can pull them off because they are hiddeous. What is one of the number one rules of fashion? NO PLEATS! so why would you want pants this day and age with hideous pleats!

No, no, no! These are the uber-unflattering trousers you see office ladies wearing - the ones they've had since 1987. Kate Moss might be able to pull them off, but mere mortals cannot!
