Christophe Decarnin Misses Balmain Show Due to Depression

Christophe Decarnin is Suffering From Depression

The rumour mill went in to overdrive yesterday when Christophe Decarnin was abscent from the Balmain show in Paris. There was quickly talk that the designer was in a mental institute and had been since January meaning he had no part in the Autumn collection.

WWD have now reported differently saying, "The designer was absent under doctor’s orders, after having recently been released from the hospital, where he was said to have been treated for depression. A Balmain spokesman said Decarnin was involved in the design."

This news comes as John Galliano checks in to rehab following his arrest and subsequent departure from Christian Dior. Having watch the McQueen and I documentary last week, it seems we need to lessen the pressures on designers or risk losing more of the industry's best talent.
