Fendi and Gucci Venture in to Designer Childrenswear

Would You Buy Designer Childrenswear?

Childrenswear is becoming increasingly popular. It seemed to start when Stella McCartney designed a super cool line for Gap Kids, which was followed by River Island's childrenswear launch. High end designers are now getting in on the act with both Gucci and Fendi unveiling their latest childrenswear offerings this week. Gucci is styled like their mainline with the classic print and understated cool pieces. Fendi stuck to a palette of pale colours for it's collection for newborns to 12 year olds. Whilst the pieces are cute, they don't come cheap. For example, a Fendi babygrow is £78! This got me wondering, would you buy designer childrenswear for the kids in your life?

It really just depends. For some people, $1000 is what $20 is for another. If I was totally rich and loaded, sure. Although, I worked in a designer boutique and I do remember one girl who came in with her daddy's credit card and bought $250 yohji yamamoto top; her mom made her bring it back - lol! But anyway, there were customers who would come in and drop $5 grand on clothes and then go to lunch, and they do this monthly and sometimes more or less. It was like laundry money to them.

Kids grow like weeds! Unless I married a money mogul...actually, even then, I would probably only buy designer strollers or something. I vote no.

No way. I remember being so disgusted when my little cousins were bought Baby Dior and Baby D&G when we were younger. *shudders*
