Marchesa left the rich, ornate baroque looks of previous seasons behind for Spring 2014, offering up a softer and more ethereal collection. The inspiration seemed to come from vintage lingerie, with delicate laces, soft tulle and bias cut silk never in short supply. 1930s inspired slip dresses with uneven straps slipped sexily off the shoulders of models, and the emphasis was almost always on the décolletage, with lots of strapping and detail around the bust and shoulders. The colour palette was soft, including pale blue, buttery beige, gold, white, and silver, with just a splash of black for drama. As this was Marchesa, red carpet looks were obviously not in short supply, and we'll expect to see these romantic looks on celebrity fans very soon.
