If you're not already familiar with TOMS Shoes, it's a great initative which not only creates cool shoes, but also helps children in third world countries. For every pair of shoes sold, another is bought for a child in the world's poorest countries. Wearing footwear can prevent disease and infection from unsafe roads and contaminated soil. This week, the brand wants you to remember how important it is to have shoes by encouraging you to go barefoot.
TOMS Shoes' founder Blake Mycoskie explained, “A shoe company asking people to go barefoot? I know it’s odd, but we are so excited for people to once again join us in One Day Without Shoes. We ask people to go the day, part of the day, or even just a few minutes, barefoot, to experience what millions of children endure every day. Awareness and empathy are the catalysts of change.” The campaign has already gained support from Heather Graham, Kristen Bell and Brittany Snow. Will you surrender your shoes for this good cause?
