It was a special night in France with the 20th annual amfAR gala taking place during the Cannes Film Festival today. The event raises money for AIDS research, and this year, it featured The Ultimate Gold Collection Fashion Show, as well as an auction. Guests were in for a special treat since a trip to space with Leonardo DiCaprio was up for bid! Before the fun began inside, though, stars hit the red carpet in their finest. Model Alessandra Ambrosio worked the cameras in a metallic gown while Goldie Hawn brought a pop of color in yellow and Rosario Dawson kept it neutral in black. Milla Jovovich, Jessica Chastain, in a red Saint Laurent look, Sharon Stone, Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue, and Ellie Goulding also made appearances.

Goldie Hawn had the love and support of her family tonight, including daughter Kate Hudson and soon-to-be son-in-law Matthew Bellamy, at the London launch of her namesake Hawn Foundation. Kate and Matthew are back in the UK following a glamorous appearance at this year's Vanity Fair Oscar bash. Kate caught up with pals Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz when she wasn't snuggled up to Matthew in the dimly lit corners of the dance floor. During their stay in North America, Kate and Matthew also visited Mexico for a few days, where she worked on her tan in a sexy bikini.

The pair have been splitting their time between the West Coast and the UK, but for now they're back in Matthew's hometown while Muse continues recording their sixth album. They've been tweeting updates and sharing photos from their latest studio sessions.

Gwyneth Paltrow got some of her best Big Apple girlfriends together last night for Good Housekeeping's Shine On Awards, which honored the achievements of powerful women. The actress was there to salute the work and raise awareness around maternal health done by Christy Turlington Burns, and they shared the evening with other ladies like Meryl Streep, Rebecca Romijn, and new mom Ali Larter. Gwyneth, who was on the cover of the magazine's February issue, has been busy with her return to Glee, which airs next week, and promoting her latest publication — she hosted a dinner for friends like Cameron Diaz, Jay-Z, and Mario Batali on Monday to toast her new cookbook My Father's Daughter. She was on hand yesterday to congratulate others, but Gwyneth took a minute to discuss the long hours she spends maintaining her awesome figure. Gwyneth said on the red carpet, "The reason that I can be 38 and have two kids and wear a bikini is because I work my [expletive] ass off. It's not an accident. It's not luck, it's not fairy dust, it's not good genes. It's killing myself for an hour and a half five days a week, but what I get out of it is relative to what I put into it. That's what I try to do in all areas of my life."

Kate Hudson arrived back in London this weekend following her trip to Paris with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. The pregnant star revealed that she thinks she's having a girl during her interview with Graham Norton last week, and denied engagement rumours.
