Ryan Reynolds met with his first-ever wax figure at Madame Tussauds Hollywood earlier this week, ahead of his 37th birthday. He isn't the only star who has come face to face with his man-made double as Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Gwen Stefani, and even Sofia Vergara have all been on hand to debut their twins at various wax museums around the world, and, naturally, it always lends itself to a hilarious photo op. A spanking, a sliming, the pee-bucket incident — nothing was off limits when Justin Bieber sat down with Zach Galifianakis for the latest edition of Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis. The pair's back-and-forth was hilariously awkward right from the start, with Zach admitting that he was a little nervous because he's "never interviewed a 7-year-old before." For his part, Justin was a good sport, playing along and joking that sometimes, in the middle of concerts, he wishes he was just at home watching Cops. He even kept a straight face when Zach started taking digs, saying, "It's really exciting to talk to you, especially right in the middle of your public meltdown." Watch their funny interview above.
Unless you are living under a rock, you've probably noticed that stars like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus are getting a lot of attention for their new, sometimes controversial adult images. However, these two stars are hardly the first pop singers to try breaking away from the bubblegum music mold. We now present our favorite music moments when singers made the often outrageous leap into adulthood.
Britney Spears: From Crossroads to Toxic
Britney Spears put her transition from teen pop star to adult singer into song with 2002's "Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman," which appeared in her coming-of-age film, Crossroads.
However, while "Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" was part of Britney's transition away from being the princess of bubblegum pop, musically it was classic Britney. Her first real change into the world of adult music was with 2004's "Toxic," which also earned the singer her only Grammy, for Best Dance Recording. It signaled the beginning of Britney's focus on club music and her step away from the straight pop that she had been known for.
Also, it gave us Britney's now-iconic sparkly nude bodysuit look.
Christina Aguilera: Xtina Gets Dirrty
Christina Aguilera was ahead of the curve when she decided to ditch the bubblegum pop scene in 2002 with the release of her raunchy single (and equally raunchy video) for "Dirrty."
The singer, who rebranded herself as "Xtina," got facial piercings, gained an affinity for leather chaps, and started sporting black streaks through her platinum-blond hair.
Justin Bieber is beginning his transition from tween singer to adult star, and his first stop is making a rap cameo in Maejor Ali's sexually explicit new song, "Lolly." In the music video, which was released yesterday, Bieber goes shirtless and raps alongside Maejor and hip-hop star Juicy J, saying, "I'm all fancy yeah, I'm popping Pellegrino/I'm in the El Camino when I pull up on the scene-o." This isn't the first time that Bieber has showed off his rapping skills (he covered Eminem's "Lose Yourself" during a concert in Detroit in July), but it is the first time that his rhyme-spitting has appeared on an actual record.
Do you like Justin's new turn as a rapper — or do you wish that he would stick to singing? Share your opinion in our poll below.
Justin Bieber took the stage multiple times at Sunday night's Billboard Music Awards — but fans may remember one appearance in particular. Justin got in front of the microphone to accept his milestone award, which was one of two that he picked up, and declared:
"I'm 19 years old, I think I'm doing a pretty good job. I really just want to say it should be about the music, the craft. This is not a gimmick. I'm an artist and I should be taken seriously and all this other bull should not be spoken of."
His words were presumably in response to the recent controversy surrounding the star, including his tweet about Anne Frank, the cancellation of an Oman concert, his attempt to illegally bring a pet monkey into Germany, and his relationship status with Selena Gomez. The crowd responded with a mix of cheers and boos, with the boos apparently much louder than what can be heard in the video. Watch the clip and tell us — do you think the backlash was understandable or totally unnecessary?
In what appears to be a candid moment caught on tape, watch Taylor Swift stick out her tongue in response to seeing her good friend Selena Gomez getting cozy with Justin Bieber backstage at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas this evening. Selena and Justin reportedly reunited in Vegas before the show, and while they weren't shown sitting together at the event, they were caught in this sweet embrace backstage. So check out the GIF and tell us what you think. Was Taylor Swift caught making an actual "ew" face about Selena and Justin — OMG yes or LOL no?
Justin Bieber made a stop by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night in NYC. Justin and Jimmy touched on many topics, starting with Justin's regular run-ins with the police thanks to his tinted windows. He joked, "Police really like to pull me over." At the moment, though, Justin's in a good place. He added, "I'm having fun being 18, enjoying my life, and being responsible." Justin went on to flash his abs during his appearance and share a kiss with a mannequin, which was being used in place of a basketball for a shoot-out.
Justin Bieber is spending time in the Big Apple ahead of his hosting gig on SNL this Saturday, Feb. 9. He will also give a live performance on the show, and recently debuted a new promo video. Justin has also been making headlines for his recent breakup with Selena Gomez, though the two reportedly reunited for a night together in LA over the weekend.
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show went down in NYC on Nov. 8, with appearances from their most famous Angels, Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Adriana Lima — and all the airs Dec. 4 on CBS!
Miranda, Alessandra, and Adriana were joined by a handful of newcomers on the runway, including Cara Delevingne and Jessica Hart. The models strutted their stuff on the runway in six separate sections. Adriana opened the first portion, which had a "Circus" theme featuring acrobats and performers on mini Segways. Earlier in the day, Miranda Kerr told us backstage she was most excited for the circus bit. She said, "I'm amazed at what they can do with their bodies!"
The five following sections included "Dangerous Liaisons," "Calendar Girls," "Pink Is Us," "Silver Screen Angels," and "Angels in Bloom" motifs. There were a handful of memorable ensembles — Alessandra modeled the 2012 Fantasy Bra, covered in $2.5 million worth of gems, while Miranda donned a Swarovski-embellished corset. Doutzen Kroes seemed to be having a great time in a pink pom-pom ensemble, and Karlie Kloss was tasked with wearing a pair of target wings. Lily Aldridge, whose Kings of Leon rocker husband, Caleb Followill, was in the front row, took a turn down the runway in a patriotic flag skirt.
The front row was packed with celebrities. Vanessa Hudgens, Alexa Chung, and Lily's husband, Caleb, were on hand to cheer for their friends and witness the spectacle, as well as the performances. In addition to the Angels, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and Bruno Mars took the stage. Justin performed two songs with a spirited group of backup dancers. It was Rihanna, though, who may have stolen the show. She closed out the final section, and it was hard to keep one's eyes off of her long enough to see the Angels take a final turn.
The American Music Awards went down in LA on Sunday night! Usher opened a show that went on to feature many performances from some of the biggest stars in the music industry. Gwen Stefani and the guys of No Doubt put on a show, as did Kelly Clarkson and Ke$ha. Taylor Swift performed her soon-to-be-released single "I Knew You Were Trouble." She changed out of the gold Zuhair Murad number she wore on the red carpet and into two elaborate costumes. Justin Bieber hit the stage too for a rendition of his songs "As Long as You Love Me" and "Beauty and a Beat." Pink put on an acrobatic, energetic performance, and Christina Aguilera wore a tiny costume to sing a song of her own.
As for the awards, Taylor and Justin were big winners. After arriving with his mom, Pattie Mallette, as his date, Justin picked up an early honor for best pop or rock male artist. He was also recognized with favorite pop/rock album and, right at the end of the show, artist of the year. Taylor, meanwhile, was crowned favorite female country artist. Further honors went to best new artist Carly Rae Jepsen and favorite country band Lady Antebellum. Carrie Underwood also has a new statue to celebrate with, having won best country album — check out the full list of American Music Awards winners!
Demi Lovato and Kevin McHale opened the Teen Choice Awards yesterday as the evening's hosts. She was treated to greetings from her fellow X Factor judges Britney Spears and Simon Cowell before the first presenters, Selena Gomez and Zooey Deschanel, handed off the choice comedian to Ellen DeGeneres. Choice sci-fi TV series went to The Vampire Diaries, and the cast of choice TV drama Pretty Little Liars handed off movie actor to The Lucky One's Zac Efron. Ian Somerhalder and an absentee Miley Cyrus took home choice male and female hottie nods, respectively. Ian sent thanks to Miley's parents, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus, on her behalf. Other absentee honors went to The Hunger Games's choice male scene stealer Liam Hemsworth and choice actress in a sci-fi movie Jennifer Lawrence. Emma Stone received two prizes for Crazy Stupid Love and The Help, Rihanna got love for Battleship, and One Direction had their boards airmailed to London.
Birthday girl Selena, who's newly 20, won choice music group for Selena Gomez & the Scene. Winning a surfboard was for Selena "the best birthday present ever," and things only got better when the crowd sang "Happy Birthday" for her. Jonah Hill made a cameo to accept a surfboard for 21 Jump Street, and Taylor Swift took the stage to accept choice female artist. The Twilight gang of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner accepted the ultimate choice prize for Breaking Dawn Part 1, and Rob even passed his surfboard into the crowd! To wrap things up, Justin Bieber performed a medley of his songs from Believe. The last honor went to choice Summer male movie star Chris Hemsworth, for both Snow White & The Huntsman and The Avengers. It was a big evening for young Hollywood — make sure to catch up on all the Teen Choice Awards fashion!
