Gavin & Stacey and Harry Hill were the big winners with two gongs each at the BAFTA Television Awards at the London Palladium last night. After all the excitement of seeing the stars on the red carpet we settled in for Graham Norton's excellent hosting of the ceremony, which saw thirteen first time winners including Best Actor Andrew Garfield, Continuing Drama winner Holby City and International category winner Heroes. Favourite moments for me were Rob Brydon's hilarious presenting of the Comedy Programme Award, James Corden's surprise at winning the Comedy Performance BAFTA (and Ruth Jones' tears), Eileen Atkins' amusing acceptance speech for Best Actress, and good old Brucie receiving the Academy Fellowship.

The stars were out in force for the BAFTA Television Awards last night, described by host Graham Norton as "sort of like the Oscars, but with less surgery". Recognisable faces poured out of the cars arriving at the London Palladium, from young whippersnappers like the Skins cast, to living legends Dame Judi Dench and Bruce Forsyth. It wasn't all Brits though, those Heroes, Milo Ventimiglia and Adrian Pasdar, showed up to present an award and rather gorgeous they both looked too.

The London Palladium is a hive of activity as preparations are made for Sunday's BAFTA Television Awards. I love seeing the headshots of stars on the seats, and I'm especially excited that Russell Brand is on the confirmed guest list. A whole host of celebrities plan to walk the red carpet, including some of my favourite nominees Alan Carr, James Corden, Judi Dench, Justin Lee Collins and Stephen Merchant.

Nominees for the BAFTA Television Awards and BAFTA Television Craft Awards gathered at London's Landmark Hotel yesterday for a celebratory reception. Hosts for each of the up-coming ceremonies Graham Norton (TV Awards) and Claudia Winkleman (TV Craft Awards) looked like they were having a great time together, and even matched in their all-black outfits. Some of the Skins cast were also at the reception, celebrating the show's five Television Craft Awards nominations and Best Drama Series nomination at the Television Awards.

The press room was packed last night as the winners and presenters filed through after presenting and picking up trophies at the BAFTA TV Awards. It was an exciting night for Skins stars Kaya Scodelario and Hannah Murray, who beamed as they held up the only award that BAFTA TV Awards audience had voted for, while Kenneth Branagh held up the Drama series award he picked up for Wallander. Other winners included Harry Hill, David Mitchell, The Bill, Mad Men and The X Factor — what an exciting, star-studded night!
