With a Japanese influence along with a sexy, provocative and dangerous, kitten-like twist, you would have thought that the clothing and beauty style at Aquascutum was going to be much more complicated than it looked. However, makeup was simple and neat, hair was sleek, edgy, yet polished and the clothing was customised for a woman with the classical elegance of a tailored mens' line. Take a peek at my photos from backstage and let me know what you think of the hair and makeup at the 2012 Aquascutum Autumn/Winter Show that took place this morning at London's swanky Savoy Hotel.
Sisters Dani and Annette Felder created an entire collection based on the 1990s grunge era when Kate Moss was dating Johnny Depp. With added influences such as the Mayan calendar and their love of the blonde colour palette, the clothing was glamorous, yet edgy in chic neutral tones. The hair, nails and makeup style was equally impressive in the same colour scheme. Take a peek at the pictures from backstage here!
My first show of the 2012 Autumn/Winter season at London Fashion Week was Maria Grachvogel. Downstairs in the Savoy Hotel, I was backstage viewing all of the amazing styles along with the pre-show beauty looks. Her collection was sensational; full of colour and depth, inspired by the 1920s with a bit of art deco and androgyny mixed in her artwork-prints. Take a peek at the detailed hair and makeup from behind the scenes here!
Emma Stone and Rooney Mara had front-row seats for the final show of NY Fashion Week today. They were on hand for one of Calvin Klein's two presentations and met with designer Francisco Costa and Vogue editor Anna Wintour backstage. Rooney and Emma will be back in the same spotlight later this month at the Oscars, where Emma's The Help is up for best picture and Rooney is nominated for best actress in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Make sure to fill out BuzzSugar's Oscars ballot for a chance to win an iPad 2 and a Prada case! Rooney will be joined on the big night by sister Kate, who has also been a regular at this year's Fashion Week. Check out all the stars at NYFW now that the action has wrapped!
New York Fashion Week comes to a close tonight and we're taking a look back at all the famous faces and amazing ensembles from this season. Designers Victoria Beckham and Rachel Zoe sent their latest collections down the runway while Gisele Bundchen returned to the catwalk. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were seated front row during J. Mendel's presentation, as Jessica Alba got an up close and personal look at Michael Kors's chic separates. The fashion crowd heads to London now for a new crop of shows, but for now, click through to see all the Fashion Week coverage from Manhattan!
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were the latest celebrities at Fashion Week as they watched the J. Mendel show in NYC this afternoon. They kicked off the stylish events at QVC's presentation last week, when they joined Camila Alves and Olivia Palermo in the front row. Mary-Kate and Ashley were the ones in the spotlight on Monday morning, though, since they showed their latest The Row collection to a select group of press at Bemelmans Bar in the Carlyle hotel. The stylish fun wraps up tomorrow, but there's still plenty of action, so make sure to check out FabSugar's NYFW coverage.
Natalie Portman and Dakota Fanning posed together before taking their front-row seats at Rodarte's NY Fashion Week presentation this afternoon. Also on hand to see Rodarte's 2012 collection were Maria Sharapova and George Lucas. Natalie's back home on the East Coast after a stint in LA, where she attended the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes. Last year, Natalie was a big award season winner for Black Swan, and she's finally lining up her first post-Oscar projects. Apparently, Natalie's involved in two Terrence Malick movies, Knight of the Cups and Lawless, which will film this Summer and Fall.
Rachel Zoe had a busy weekend at NYFW. In addition to checking out the Diane von Furstenberg, Skaist-Taylor, and Derek Lam shows, she presented her own Rachel Zoe Collection Saturday at the Empire Hotel. Stars like Olivia Palermo and Mary Alice Stephenson turned out to see Rachel's designs, which were inspired by '60s London and icons like Marianne Faithfull and Mick Jagger. We caught up with Rachel just before she sent her creations, which included wrap dresses, textured suites, and red carpet-ready gowns, down the runway. In addition to her styling work, inspirations, and famous clients, Rachel Zoe spoke about her start in fashion. She said, "I'm gonna say, when I started reading Vogue, and I looked at the work of Grace Coddington. And I thought, 'I want to do that.'" Rachel celebrated at night with her loved ones. She tweeted a photo of their low-key meal, and wrote, "Celebrating post show with Deluscious cookies with friends and family! Perfect way to end a special day."
Gisele Bundchen got back to her modeling ways at NY Fashion Week tonight. She walked the runway at the Alexander Wang show and met up with pals Karolina Kurkova, Shalom Harlow, and Carmen Kass backstage. Gisele shared that designer Alexander Wang "asked me and I'm very happy I was able to be here." She was in the spotlight during the Fashion Week festivities after making headlines last week for her comments following the Super Bowl. Gisele dropped an f-bomb after the big game, expressing her frustration at the Patriots' loss against the Giants.
Kate Winslet joined the many famous faces at NY Fashion Week as she stepped out in the Big Apple last night. She attended the opening of CFDA's new exhibition at FIT called "Impact: 50 Years of the CFDA." Kate, who is the current face of St. John, wore a fitted black dress from the line and was accompanied by St. John designer George Sharp and CFDA CEO Steven Kolb for the occasion. Also on hand to see the work on display were Prabal Gurung, Vera Wang, Lorraine Schwartz, and Anna Wintour.
Kate's coming off an exciting award season win last month. Kate picked up a Golden Globe for her work in Mildred Pierce and was joined by boyfriend Ned Rocknroll at the big show.
