Anja Rubik dressed as punk as she could for last night's Met Gala in NYC. On her way inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Anja explained her history with edgy dressing. Though she never was fully punk, Anja says she did have a rebellious "goth" period that involved a dedication to Marilyn Manson. Anja Rubik donned a playful, feather-covered Pucci minidress and hot-pink bejeweled heels for the amfAR Gala in Cannes yesterday. While the outfit looks like an innocent — and very fun — party outfit, it's actually a seriously expensive endeavor: Chopard and Guiseppe Zanotti partnered to create Anja's shoes, which were covered with $180,000 worth of jewels. The heels, boasting diamonds, pink sapphires, rubies, and russellites, were auctioned off for $200,000 at the gala. While we're not sure what Anja wore after her shoes were sold to the highest bidder, we're optimistic the leggy model still looked party ready.
At the Cannes premiere of This Must Be the Place, legendary catwalker Claudia Schiffer and runway stunner Anja Rubik went head to head on the red carpet, both clad in sexy black gowns — and both with little left to the imagination. Claudia sported a lace bustier Dolce & Gabbana gown, accessorizing with layered diamond necklaces and a pair of black pumps. Anja's dress may have been full length and long sleeved, but it wasn't exactly modest. The Emilio Pucci gown was covered in sequins, and featured an ornate pattern made up of tiny holes. Anja Rubik is the latest name to be snapped up by Mango. The model joins Poppy Delevigne and Scarlett Johannson as faces of the Spanish High Street giant. For Autumn, Anja was photographed by Terry Richardson in Paris. The pieces are more trend driven than previous Mango collections with a camel coat, leather skirt, lace up heels and faux fur. Anja Rubik was spotted heading to the Chloe Spring '11 show yesterday in a rust coloured maxi dress. The model, who is on the cover of Vogue Germany this month, is more used to being on the catwalk than in the front row. She has just been revealed as one of the new faces of Mango. H&M Magazine's September issue is out, and one of the major highlights is this fashion spread titled "Arizona Dream" with Anja Rubik. Her boyfriend and model Sasha Knezevic, who she often models with, even makes a ruggedly sexy cameo. The sandy background of the Grand Canyon is my favorite part — it allows the shearling jackets, denim, chunky knits, and Navajo prints to pop. The juxtaposition of the heat and the heavy layering makes for gorgeous shots.
It's definitely the season for ad campaigns as this week we've seen the Autumn adverts for Dolce and Gabbana, Yves Saint Laurent and Miu Miu to name a few. Today, the Fendi campaign has been revealed starring Anja Rubik and Baptiste Giabiconi and shot by Karl Lagerfeld. Karl explained that the images depict an “Italian couple in downtown New York.” It will appear in August magazines and shows the couple posing around a retro apartment. The slick silver box backdrop is a good contrast against Alber's textured masterpieces, and we love the tough accessories.
