The 85th annual Academy Awards (aka, The Oscars) were held in Los Angeles last night. Although we missed seeing Keira Knightley from Anna Karenina and Helen Mirren from Hitchcock just to name a few, at least we had the beautiful Adele, Louise Roe, Samantha Barks and Catherine Zeta-Jones to oggle at as they walked the red carpet. See these four beautiful Brits in their long gowns and up close in my slideshow here and be sure to vote on whose dress you like best at the end.
Rooney Mara was joined by her costars Channing Tatum, Jude Law, and Catherine Zeta-Jones for the New York premiere of Side Effects last night. She wore a white Alexander McQueen dress and Nicholas Kirkwood pumps while Catherine donned a black lace Michael Kors frock. Catherine's husband, Michael Douglas, walked her down the red carpet, which included visits from some of New York's fashion elite, like Donna Karan and Rachel Roy. Kate Mara joined her sister, Rooney, at the event after Rooney attended Kate's House of Cards premiere on Wednesday. It's been a busy week for the duo, who have both been doing press for their two new releases. Rooney attended a Side Effects Q&A with director Steven Soderbergh and Jude in the Big Apple earlier this week and Kate made the party rounds for her new series in DC and NYC. House of Cards hits Netflix today while Side Effects will open in theaters on Feb. 8.
Last night in Los Angeles, awards season has officially kicked off with the 2013 Golden Globe Awards. Stars lined the red carpet in embellished, bright coloured and form fitting gowns. Their hair, makeup and accessories were styled to perfection, just as we had hoped. Whilst mostly Americans were in attendance, there were more British ladies and gents than I ever expected to see. From Sienna Miller to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Emily Blunt, Emily Mortimer and more, check out this bevvy of beautiful Brits and leave a comment to let me know who you think looked best from head to toe!
Stars like Dakota Fanning, Leelee Sobieski, and Catherine Zeta-Jones gathered last night to celebrate the start of the Tribeca Film Festival at Vanity Fair's kickoff party. The bash was held at NYC's State Supreme Courthouse and many of the celebs posed for pictures outside before heading in to start the fun with editor in chief Graydon Carter. Leelee, who arrived with her designer husband Adam Kimmel, wore a white gown from Jil Sander. Dakota, one of the festival's judges this year, was pretty in a pink Lanvin. Catherine broke from working on The Bitter Pill to throw on a silver Michael Kors number and let loose alongside husband Michael Douglas. Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner also popped by to say hello during a date night, when their daughter Arabella stayed home. Today marks the official opening of Robert De Niro's 11-year-old cinema event — check out our roundup of highlights from the Tribeca Film Festival since its inception in 2001.
The new full-length trailer is out for Rock of Ages, and guess what? It's awesome. Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, and Julianne Hough ain't looking for nothin' but a good time and between their over-the-top commitment to their roles and a little monkey named Heyman, the preview is pretty hilarious. It also gives us more insight into the plot than the original teaser, with a better look at the rest of the cast (welcome to the club, Diego Boneta.)
Aside from sharing director Adam Shankman, Rock of Ages has quite a few parallels to 2007's Hairspray. There's the newcomer trying to make it in showbiz (Boneta), young romance (Boneta and Hough), a troupe of intolerant folks (led by Catherine Zeta-Jones), and of course, lots of music. Oh, and did I mention there's even more (shirtless) Tom Cruise here? I could not be more excited to see him fill Stacee Jaxx's shoes.
