The Spice Girls musical playing in London's West End is called Viva Forever!, but its run will last only six months. It was confirmed today that Viva Forever! will close early in June, despite the best promotional efforts of Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Beckham. Due to poor ticket sales and worse reviews, backers of the production say they could not make the financials work. In a statement the Girls expressed their own thoughts, saying, "Although Viva Forever won't continue in the West End, we are thrilled that the thousands of people who came to the show had as much fun as we did."
I can't even believe I've waited this long to jump on the high-top bandwagon, but after I saw the FabSugar US girls sporting these Nike Sky High Dunks (£85) I couldn't fight temptation any longer. It seems like wherever I go, I see someone pairing their high-tops with skinny jeans, patterned pants and mini skirts. Check out Emma Bunton earlier this week in London with her fly speckled kicks along with Lisa Snowdon who was papped leaving Capital FM studios in her all black pair. Shop tonnes of styles below and let me know which is your fave.
The Olympics came to an end last night with a spectacular closing ceremony featuring the best of British music and fashion alongside all those fantastic sporting achievements. Our major models including Lily Cole, Lily Donaldson, Stella Tennant, Karen Elson, Jourdan Dunn, Georgia May Jagger and Naomi Campbell broke out of billboards to walk the Union Jack stage in outfits by a variety of our country's top designers, with Kate Moss looking stunning in McQueen.
Jessie J went for a nude catsuit and leotard by Vivienne Westood for her performances, and Kate Middleton's final Olympics outfit was a rewear of her Whistles Bella dress. The Spice Girls joined together in updated versions of their previous style personas, with Victoria Beckham in a mullet hem custom made Giles Deacon gown. Emeli Sande, Annie Lennox and Darcey Bussell all took to the stage in stunning costumes too, so take a look at them all here and tell me who was most fab at the London 2012 Games closing ceremony!
The Spice Girls were back together at this evening's Closing Ceremony in London! The five girls — Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton — reunited to sing the hit that made them famous, "Wannabe," as well as "Spice Up Your Life." We caught a glimpse of the Spice Girls rehearsing earlier this week, and they even polished off their moves with one last run-through this morning. For the big show, Victoria wore a dress from British designer Giles Deacon, and Geri even had a bit of Union Jack on her red mini.
It seems Victoria was excited to be back with her old bandmates, as she tweeted a couple picture of their preparations this afternoon. She also shared the quote, "Behind every success is effort, behind every effort is passion, behind every passion is someone with the courage to try." Mel B was also feeling the magnitude of the occasion. She tweeted, "What an amazing day today!" Emma, meanwhile, was in a girl power state of mind. She wrote, "It's all pink tonight, baby!"
Rochelle Wiseman, Keira Knightley, and More: Engaged British and Irish Celebs and the Dresses They Should Wear
The news that Rochelle Wiseman and Marvin Humes are getting married this weekend has got me imagining what the singer should wear on her big day. Plenty of British and Irish beauties are preparing to walk down the aisle, so now's the time to match up each bride-to-be with the season's most beautiful wedding dresses. It would only be fitting that the pride of the UK and Ireland, like Una Healy, Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller, Ashley Madekwe, Elizabeth Hurley and Emma Bunton, celebrate their nuptials in gowns by British designers like Amanda Wakeley, Alice Temperley, Matthew Williamson, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham. Check out what I hope each bride wears down the aisle, and tell me your picks too!
Last night in London, Victoria Beckham wore a bright tangerine number from her own S/S 2012 collection to Simon Fuller’s birthday party after dressing in Winter colours at Wimbledon the day before. She teamed her Victoria Beckham Stretch-Crepe Dress (£1,225) with nude leather peep-toe Giuseppe Zanotti heels and Victoria Beckham clutch, but the designer wasn't the first to have worn the orange body-con frock. Jennifer Lopez wore the dress with ankle-strap Lanvin sandals on American Idol back in April, while WAG Abbey Clancy was there first at the end of March in Dubai. Victoria's former bandmate Emma Bunton also chose the tangerine trend a fortnight ago along with a nude Mulberry bag after the Spice Girls Viva Forever Musical launch. Shop my picks below and tell me what you think of the Orange Spice style!
As if it wasn't exciting enough seeing all five Spice Girls back together for the first time in years last week, the group have now decided to give fans the chance to buy a piece of classic fashion from the good old days. Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C made Union Jack dresses, platform trainers and catsuits the uniform of the '90s and now they're auctioning some of their most famous costumes from the last 16 years to raise funds for Save The Children and Children In Need. A star-studded benefit gala will be held to coincide with the launch of musical Viva Forever in London's West End this December.
Unfortunately Geri's 1997 Brit Awards Union Jack dress won't be up for grabs as it's on display at Las Vegas' Hard Rock Cafe, but Ginger Spice's basque minidresses, Scary Spice's leopard-print all-in-ones, Sporty Spice’s Adidas tracksuits and crop tops, Baby Spice's babydoll shift dresses and Posh Spice’s black leather and PVC dresses are expected to go under the hammer. Victoria first came up with the idea at the end of their 2008 reunion tour, and told the Daily Mirror: "I’ve got all my costumes still. I can’t wait for Harper to grow a little so she can have some. But the rest I’d like to put up for charity, I think it would be a fantastic thing to do." Which piece of Spice Girls fashion history would you most like to own?
Victoria Beckham joined the rest of the Spice Girls in London today to confirm the upcoming musical Viva Forever!, which will feature their music and debut on the West End later this year. The Spice Girls haven't all been pictured together since the end of their reunion tour in 2008 and the location of this afternoon's press conference, the St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel, has special historical meaning for them since it's where they shot their "Wannabe" music video in 1996. Victoria tweeted her excitement about reuniting with Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton.
The website for Viva Forever! also launched today and contains a new description of what fans can expect come Dec. 11, saying, "As one girl follows her dreams, Viva Forever! charts her journey into the world of overnight celebrity and its impact on her mother and the friends she thought she'd have forever. From London to Spain and back again, as the world judges you, it's all about who you really are and who you want to be, whatever the cost."
Today in London, all five members of the Spice Girls got together for the Viva Forever Musical launch, four years after they reunited for their tour. Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham showed off their different style choices as they posed at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, where they filmed the Wannabe video back in 1996. Posh Spice Victoria wore a military-inspired dress from her own her Autumn/Winter 2012 collection teamed with peep toe leather Louboutin boots, while Ginger Spice Geri also donned a piece from her own Geri for Next collection, a pink lace mini along with Jimmy Choos. Scary Spice Mel B went formal in a grey shift dress and spiked Louboutins, while Baby Spice Emma went for bright platform heels with a blue frock, and Sporty Spice Mel C wore a floaty white Acne dress that has also been seen on Kylie Minogue and Karen Gillan. Take a look at all five Spices' style here and tell me who looks most fab!
Last night, Emma Bunton arrived at the The TRIC Awards in Mayfair looking casual yet chic in a pair of green J Brand skinnies, a black Chloè Paraty Bag and sky high Christian Louboutin heels that she paired with a long black blazer and bright red nail varnish.
