Parkas represent everything antifashion; they're practical, long-lasting, timeless, and perhaps a bit boring by some standards. But stylish women across the globe have claimed the boyish coats as their own and shown us how to style these cold-weather staples to make them look as good as any £2,000 pink Carven cocoon coat. The key is to mix things up, so don't be afraid to wear your parka with heels, or tote a luxury leather bag with your utilitarian coat. As celeb fans Fearne Cotton, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Suki Waterhouse show, the joy of the parka is that it can be thrown over any outfit, rain or shine. This Winter, look for prints, unusual colours, leather trims, or contrast sleeves for an extra dose of drama. Shop some of our favourite finds below.
We've already highlighted pink coats as the season's biggest cold-weather trend, but not everyone will love those bubblegum- and pastel-coloured creations. If you're looking for an alternative to those feminine styles, turn your attention to checks and tartans instead. There are so many ways to wear these prints that the options are endless. Choose a bold, bright colour, or stick to a monochrome look. Go big and boyish, or choose slim-fit styles. Or look to your favourite celebrities for a little inspiration. Fearne Cotton wore a slimline red-checked coat with jeans, socks, and sandals; the Duchess of Cambridge opted for a feminine fit-and-flare style; and Taylor Swift put a youthful spin on the look with a duffle coat. Fearne Cotton got into the spirit of Halloween a bit early this year when she arrived at Radio One wearing a ghost jumper. Not a day goes by without Fearne being snapped on her way to work, and we love that she used this particular outfit to make a spooky statement. The good news is that high street fan Fearne's look is really easy to replicate. Just grab New Look's bargain ghost jumper and team it with boyfriend jeans and ankle boots. To add a touch of luxury, Fearne finished the look with designer sunglasses and a Mulberry bag. Shop our picks below to get the look.
The daily Radio 1 fashion parade had a guest star today, as Alexa Chung made an appearance, joining Fearne Cotton in running the paparazzi gauntlet from coffee shop to studio. But which star had the best street style? We're loving Alexa's ability to make multizippered leather shorts look casual with the addition of a pretty blouse and strappy sandals, but Fearne's swing dress and layered pendants are also on the money for London's surprisingly balmy September weather. There's only one thing to do, so we're handing it over to you. Vote now for your best-dressed London lady!
Fearne Cotton left baby Rex at home last night for a trip to London's Riverside Studios to film Celebrity Juice, and she definitely kicked off the new series in style. The star tried the allover print trend in a matching shell top and trousers in a neon-shot floral brocade, both from Jaeger's younger line, Boutique. Wooden platform sandals with black straps added a bit of height, and by the looks of things these are a firm favourite with Fearne, as they've definitely been worn a few times before! She accessorised simply, with a roomy Miu Miu bag and a few bangles and bracelets. Get this look yourself with our picks below.
Earlier this week, Fearne Cotton had her hair done nice and curly (and from of the looks of it, freshly dyed too), for a photocall for her new home collection for Very.co.uk in Central London. We've also seen her recently wearing her hair stick straight and wavy. Out of these three looks, which you find the most flattering on Fearne? Vote below to let me know!
Fearne Cotton has gone from blonde to platinum since the birth of her son Rex. The Saturdays Frankie Sandford has transformed her hair from short to long since she's been pregnant, Sarah Harding also added some serious length to her blonde hair, Rihanna has lightened her naturally dark hair from a red hue to bright blonde and now Alexa Chung has gone from deep brown to medium brown with blonde highlights. Perhaps Riri, Sarah and Alexa have some baby news that inspired these colour chameleons? Hmph. . . In any event, take a look at their hair changes and vote on which look you like best!
Last night in London at Berkeley Square Gardens, Victoria Beckham, Rita Ora, Cara Delevigne, Naomi Campbell, Ellie Goulding, Fearne Cotton and so many more beautiful British ladies gathered for the Glamour Women of the Year Awards. Earlier in the week, Fearne Cotton was spotted at the Arts Club in Mayfair with boyfriend Jesse Wood attending a fashion party for Liam Gallagher donning a rather avant garde hairstyle. With her fringe hanging loosely by the sides of her cheeks and the rest of her lengths swept up in a topknot held together with a black scrunchie, I was surprised to see Fearne's typically perfect looking hair so unkempt. The scrunchie also took be aback as it's not something I see people wearing outside of the house these days, but somehow Fearne, with her cute baby bump and man candy on her arm looks quite endearing. How do you feel about the possible return of the 80s scrunchie?
Fearne Cotton was spotted earlier today walking to the BBC Radio One studios carrying a present. She was wearing a mish-mosh of styles including black leggings, a leopard print coat, an ombrè blouse, brown square sunnies, a garnet ring and black trainers that she jazzed up with pink and purple shoe laces.
