Acting Talent Comes to London For Critics' Circle Film Awards

Carey Mulligan, Anne-Marie Duff, Colin Firth and Christoph Waltz all picked up gongs at the London Critics' Circle Film Awards at London's Landmark Hotel last night.

Carey Mulligan, Anne-Marie Duff, Colin Firth and Christoph Waltz all picked up gongs at the London Critics' Circle Film Awards at London's Landmark Hotel last night. Anne-Marie's fellow Nowhere Boy pals Sam Taylor-Wood and Aaron Johnson lost their categories but still had Sam's pregnancy to give them a wam glow. Fish Tank was the big winner with four awards, and although Katie Jarvis wasn't there, plenty of other stars were in the UK ahead of Sunday's BAFTAs to collect their awards, including Quentin Tarantino and Michael Fassbender.

An Education, The Hurt Locker and Avatar lead the pack in the 2010 Bafta Awards, with eight nominations each! All three are up for Best Film, alongside Precious and Up in the Air. George Clooney, Colin Firth and Andy Serkis are in the running for Leading Actor, Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep and Gabourey Sidibe are among those fighting it out for the Leading Actress trophy, with Alec Baldwin, Anna Kendrick, Anne-Marie Duff, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Stanley Tucci in the Supporting Actor and Actress categories.

On Wednesday night the Cannes Festival 2009 launched with a special 3D screening of new Disney/Pixar film Up, with guests dressed up to the nines including Tilda Swinton, Aishwarya Rai, Elizabeth Banks and judge Asia Argento.

On Wednesday night the Cannes Festival 2009 launched with a special 3D screening of new Disney/Pixar film Up, with guests dressed up to the nines including Tilda Swinton, Aishwarya Rai, Elizabeth Banks and judge Asia Argento. British movie Fish Tank premiered last night, with new Doctor Who Matt Smith joining the movie's stars Harry Treadaway, Michael Fassbender, Kierston Wareing on the red carpet. Gorgeous Ben Whishaw and Abbie Cornish were also out promoting their movie Bright Star, and Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz teamed up to promote Precious, while Eva Longoria-Parker and her husband Tony Parker soaked up some atmosphere!
