Peaches, Pammie And Pals Party Hard at Paris Fashion Week

The fashion crowd are in France this week as Paris Fashion Week is well under way.

The fashion crowd are in France this week as Paris Fashion Week is well under way. We've already seen Charlize Theron at Dior and Salma Hayek at Balenciaga, and plenty of Brits joined them on Friday. Kristin Scott Thomas, Bianca Jagger and Jade Jagger were at the Lanvin show, while Georgia May Jagger was watching Pamela Anderson making headlines with a wardrobe malfunction on the catwalk at the Vivienne Westwood show. Peaches Geldof was everywhere, showing off her plaits on Saturday after jokingly "marrying" her friend.

Fellow Fashion Week devotee Kanye West was also getting his fill of the ready-to-wear shows with his girlfriend Amber Rose, alongside Anna Wintour, Lou Dillon and Beth Ditto, who is expected to perform for Fendi later this week. Lots of stars came together for Roberto Cavalli's boutique opening party, including Diane Kruger and Milla Jovovich as well as Peaches, Kanye and Jade. Check out my girl Fab UK's round up of the weekend's shows.

2009 Screen Actors Guild Awards: Best Dressed Brit

The 2009 Screen Actors Guild Awards took place last night as award season continued.

The "http://www.fabsugar.com/tags/2009+Screen+Actors+Guild+Awards">2009 Screen Actors Guild Awards took place last night as award season continued. Kate Winslet took home another award for best supporting actress in The Reader (her mantlepiece must be getting crowded) and Slumdog Millionaire picked up another accolade. Kate looked stunning in a blue Narciso Rodriguez dress, but is she your best dressed Brit? For this award she competes against a shiny Emily Blunt in Pamela Roland, an androgynous Kristin Scott Thomas and a brightly dressed Nicollette Sheridan. Who is your best dressed Brit?

Trend Alert: Critics' Choice Chic Updo's

Last night at the 2009 Critics' Choice Awards in Los Angeles, actresses Eva Longoria, Penelope Cruz, Kate Beckinsale, Angela Bassett, Kristin Scott Thomas and Evan Rachel Wood all arrived on the red carpet with their hair pulled back in chic updo's.

Even Angelina Jolie decided to go for a swept-up sleek ponytail, something we don't typically see on her when she's making a formal appearance. Out of all of these hairstyles, I like the Penelope's classic look the best and Evan's drapey and too-thick tendril the least. Whose hair would you likely emulate at your next affair?

Trend Alert: Knee Skimming Dresses

Last night the 2009 Critics Choice Awards took place in Los Angeles celebrating the stars of the silver screen.

Last night the 2009 Critics Choice Awards took place in Los Angeles celebrating the stars of the silver screen. Many of Hollywood's biggest names got dressed up and hit the red carpet. One of the most emerging trends that I've noticed (beyond credit crunch supporting floor sweeping gowns) is the knee skimming dress.

From Kristin Scott Thomas in Yves Saint Laurent to Anne Hathaway in Gianfranco Ferré the red carpet was awash with modestly dressed ladies. Eva Longoria and Amy Adams joined the trend revealing just the right amount of flesh around the clavicles and calves. What do you think of this elegant style?

Pop Preview: Easy Virtue

Jessica Biel steals the show as glamourous and intelligent Larita in Easy Virtue, a 1920s romantic comedy based on Noel Coward's play.

Jessica Biel steals the show as glamourous and intelligent Larita in Easy Virtue, a 1920s romantic comedy based on Noel Coward's play. After a whirlwind romance in America, Larita has married young earnest John (Ben Barnes), and when the couple arrive at the Whittakers' stately country house it's time for Larita to face her in-laws. Mrs Whittaker (Kristin Scott Thomas) is certainly not impressed to have an American for a daughter-in-law, while a withdrawn Mr Whittaker (Colin Firth) does his best to keep out of the way. We watch as Larita goes from trying to fit in to trying to wrest control of the situation, and her marriage, from her overbearing mother-in-law.

The tension between Larita and Mrs Whittaker creates a lot of the laughs in the film, as each tries to outdo the other through a series of verbal bouts and one-up-manship. There is also a more serious side to the film, especially evident in the figure of Mr Whittaker, a man who has withdrawn from life after the Great War. As the film develops we learn more about not only his past, but also Larita's previous controversial life. The battle between the two main female characters to win John also takes a more dramatic turn when the Whittakers' true situation is revealed.

Only metres away from last night Empire Awards, were theatre's Olivier Awards, at Grosvenor House.

Only metres away from last night Empire Awards, were theatre's Olivier Awards, at Grosvenor House. As you can imagine there was a lot of intermingling, and you'll spot some of those familiar from the film awards posts amongst the theatre darlings. It feels like yesterday we announced the Hairspray-dominated nominees! James McAvoy's wife Anne Marie Duff looked gorgeous in peach, and newcomer Leanne Jones was beaming after her win for playing Traci Turnblad in the excellent Hairspray.

The revived musical had a great night, scooping four awards including Best New Musical, Best Actor in a Musical (Michael Ball) and Best Performance In A Supporting Role (Tracie Bennett). Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kristin Scott Thomas also won at the ceremony hosted by Richard E Grant. To see more photos as well as a full list of winners, just read more

Olivier Awards Nominations Announced

We're slap-bang in the middle of awards season at the moment, with nominees and winners being congratulated almost daily.

We're slap-bang in the middle of awards season at the moment, with nominees and winners being congratulated almost daily. Today is no exception – The Society of London Theatre has announced the nominations for The Laurence Olivier Awards, celebrating all of the top shows and people in London's Theatreland.

Topping the list of nominations is the West End production of Hairspray, which has been nominated for a record 11 Olivier Awards! Their massive haul of nominations includes Best New Musical, Best Actress in a Musical for newcomer Leanne Jones (who's filling Nikki Blonsky's shoes as Tracy Turnblad) and Best Actor in a Musical for Mum's favourite Michael Ball in Travolta-style drag as Edna Turnblad. I was lucky enough to get to preview the show before it opened in 2007 and it was a really fun evening.

Other acting nominees include Sir Ian McKellen, Kristin Scott Thomas, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alistair McGowan, Patrick Stewart, John Simm and James McAvoy's pixie-like other half Anne-Marie Duff.
