Matt Damon Captures His Cannes Premiere With Luciana

Matt Damon joined up with his Behind the Candelabra costar Michael Douglas to premiere their new film at the Cannes Film Festival today. Matt also had his wife Luciana by his side and they snapped pictures of all the action as they made their way down the carpet. Matt and Michael are screening their HBO project in the South of France before it officially hits the small screen on Sunday, May 26. Earlier in the day, Matt and Michael attended a photo call and a press conference. They have been doing quite a bit of press for the biopic, which follows Liberace, played by Michael, and his young lover, played by Matt. Naturally, a story about a couple had to involve love scenes, and Michael revealed in a recent interview he wasn't exactly put off by the idea of kissing one of America's best-looking actors. He said, "As far as making out with Matt, it’s not so bad. We rehearsed the scenes. For me, I guess the biggest thrill is, when I first saw it, after a few minutes, I really forget it’s Matt. Matt and Mike, you know? I just forget it’s us."

Matt is in Cannes after wrapping up filming for his upcoming film with George Clooney, The Monuments Men, in Germany. The pair celebrated finishing the film by having a boys weekend at George's Lake Como estate earlier this month.

Matt Damon hit the red carpet for the LA premiere of Promised Land last night. He had wife Luciana by his side, but also posed with costar and pal John Krasinski. It was their second event of the week after also promoting the project with a screening in NYC on Tuesday. The next day, Matt, Luciana, and their three youngest daughters traveled to the West Coast together. They've been going back and forth between both coasts since purchasing a home near the Garner-Afflecks in LA over the Summer. It looks like they'll be staying put for at least a few days since Matt has press interviews this weekend and is also scheduled to appear on The Tonight Show on Monday.

Matt and Luciana Celebrate Promised Land With Their Oldest Daughter

Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana, hit the red carpet last night in NYC for the premiere of his new movie Promised Land. He wrote, produced, and stars in the movie alongside collaborator John Krasinski, who posed for photos without his own spouse, Emily Blunt, who's been in England making All You Need Is Kill with Tom Cruise. Emily's sister Felicity Blunt was able to attend, though, with her husband, Stanley Tucci. Matt and John also celebrated the upcoming movie with costars Rosemarie DeWitt and her husband, Ron Livingston. On the carpet, John spoke about his strong friendship with Matt. He said, "I would love to have a bromance with him, but I don't even know if I could even use the word 'bromance' because he and Ben [Affleck] are so tight and like a married couple that I'll never get in there."

Matt and John said a few words before the screening, along with director Gus Van Sant. Gus said the premiere screening was "momentous" while Matt declared that there's "a little piece of our soul in this." Afterward, the gang retired to an afterparty at Loi. Matt and Luciana holed up in a banquette for a bit, along with their oldest daughter, Alexia. John, likewise, was surrounded by family to celebrate his big project.

John Krasinski and a Calvin Klein-clad Emily Blunt met up with their friends Matt and Luciana Damon last night at the Gotham Independent Film Awards in NYC, held at Manhattan's Cipriani Wall Street. Not only are John and Matt close friends, but they've also teamed up for the forthcoming movie Promised Land. Also out for the show were Marion Cotillard, an Armani-wearing Amy Adams, and Calvin Klein model Lara Stone, who showed off her baby bump. Lara and her husband, UK comedian David Walliams, are expecting their first child together. Matt was honored at last night's event along with Marion Cotillard, who wore Christian Dior. She made the rounds with her Rust and Bone leading man, Matthias Schoenaerts. Winners at the Gotham Independent Film Awards included both Matt and Marion, who received accolades for their distinguished big-screen careers.

The event was held to benefit The American Institute For Stuttering, which has long been supported by Matt's The Adjustment Bureau costar Emily Blunt. It was Matt's latest social evening after attending Monday's Made in NY Awards, where he picked up an honor for his dedication to shooting movies in the Big Apple. Emily herself turned out for the party, and her husband John Krasinski did too. John and Emily attended the benefit together in 2009 and last year as well. Emily supports the organization after she dealt with a speech impediment as a child. She told Elle UK last September, "[It was] awful, absolutely awful. You feel like there’s an impostor living inside of you who is misrepresenting who you really are. You don’t want to be accepted for being that person but at the same time you do, and you don’t want people to finish your sentences, yet you breathe a sigh of relief when someone does."
