Kate Winslet stepped out for her second day of Venice Film Festival appearances today. She donned black shorts and a blazer for this morning's Mildred Pierce photocall and got super sexy in a skintight white dress for the show's red carpet premiere this afternoon. Kate switched gears to her HBO miniseries after promoting her movie project Carnage at the festival yesterday. During press for the Roman Polanski-directed piece, Kate Winslet shared her experience projectile vomiting for the cameras, saying "It was hysterical." Kate's small-screen costar Evan Rachel Wood was also pulling double duty since she did press for The Ides of March with George Clooney during opening day earlier this week.
Video: Kate Winslet Brings Glamour and a Positive Attitude to the Mildred Pierce Premiere!
Kate Winslet revealed her tips on how to be a great leading lady — stay positive and keep smiling! — at last night's Mildred Pierce premiere in NYC. The Oscar winner looked stunning in a Stella McCartney dress with a sheer polka dot sleeve, as she joined Evan Rachel Wood and the rest of the cast on the red carpet. Her costars had nothing but lovely things to say about the hard-working actress, but Evan also spilled about the other Hollywood big name she's working with at the moment: George Clooney!
Kate Winslet Happily Leads the Way at Her Mildred Pierce Premiere
Kate Winslet was in a half-sheer Stella McCartney number yesterday for the NYC debut of her new HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce. Other members of the network's family, like Boardwalk Empire's Steve Buscemi and How to Make It in America's Bryan Greenberg, came out to show their support. Kate also had her costars on hand, including her fellow Oscar-winner Melissa Leo, a fresh-from-Michigan Evan Rachel Wood, and Guy Pearce. The two Academy Award honorees worked on their small-screen project before The Fighter actress clinched her prize, and Melissa even said her expletive-laced acceptance speech was inspired by Kate!
Last night, though, there was even more love flowing from the costars to leading lady Kate as many commented on her great attitude on the New York set last year. Evan referred to Kate as "my favorite actress hands down" before revealing the nickname she's been given by her The Ides of March director George Clooney, who apparently calls her Schnoz! Kate, meanwhile, shared her secret to both doing long hours and having a sunny attitude. She said, "You just have to do it! You have to team lead and you have to just plow on through. The thing is as well, when you're playing a character who is so present on the set, everyone sort of leads by example. I knew I had to be a leader in that sense . . . it helps everybody. You all want to enjoy your work and do the best job that you can. When the leading actor is being effervescent and positive, I think it makes a big difference to the atmosphere. But I'm always like that! Or I try to be!"

Kate Winslet's Back to Business on the Mildred Pierce Set
Kate Winslet was working on the Mildred Pierce set again yesterday. She wore her own suit jacket as she took a call outside in the sunshine, her wig being pinned into her character's style, while her costar Evan Rachel Wood filmed scenes looking glam in a black silky gown. Kate's wardrobe for the day was a cream shiny demure skirt suit, a change from the floral dresses she's been wearing for the project.
Kate Winslet Moves From Modern Day to Mildred Pierce in NYC
Kate Winslet left her building in New York yesterday to head to the set of Mildred Pierce wearing a black cardi, big shades with her wet hair pulled back in a bun. Sam Mendes was also spotted there picking up their son Joe and Kate's daughter Mia for the school run, a regular occurrence since their amicable split. Kate's simple outfit was at odds with the printed dress and hat she wore on set, with her wig of short brown curls over her natural blonde hair.
Kate Winslet Gets Glamourous in Gold For Mildred Pierce
Kate Winslet was spotted filming in New York yesterday in a gorgeous gold dress, playing Mildred Pierce. Before she got into costume she walked from where she'd had makeup done in a casual outfit of a loose-fitting top, tiny black shorts and flip flops, with a black scarf around her neck. Kate seemed happy and relaxed as she waved and smiled at those watching her work. The gold gown is a nice change from some of the more dowdy costumes she's been wearing on set as she films the HBO miniseries.
Kate Winslet Stays in Costume as Mildred Pierce Continues
Kate Winslet was spotted on set in Queens filming Mildred Pierce yesterday, wearing a burgundy dress and hat to play the title character. Her long blonde hair was hidden by her familiar brown curly wig. Filming apparently had to be halted earlier this week when Kate suffered bruising that could not be covered by makeup. She fell while playing with the kids on set, but it looks like she's all better now.
Kate Winslet Spends More Time as Mildred Pierce in NYC
Kate Winslet has been busy working on her new TV miniseries Mildred Pierce in New York throughout April, and yesterday she was on the Upper East Side for more filming. With her long blonde hair transformed into a shorter darker style and a shirt dress on with a matching apron, she was escorted to set holding her script, while fans watched from a distance.
Costumed Kate Winslet Stays in Character as Mildred Pierce
Kate Winslet began filming Mildred Pierce in New York at the weekend, and yesterday she continued the shoot in two new costumes in her role as divorced mother Mildred. Grazia have expressed dismay over the frumpy 1940s wardrobe choices for the HBO TV series, comparing them to the powerful costumes worn by Joan Crawford in the 1945 adaptation, which she won an Oscar for. Kate stars alongside Evan Rachel Wood and Guy Pearce in the miniseries, which is directed by Far From Heaven's Todd Haynes — with this fab cast I can't wait to see the finished product.
