Versace's Party Guests (Obviously) Opt For Leather and Bustiers

When in Rome .
Versace Dinner Party | October 2012

When in Rome . . . that seemed to be the motto adopted by Donatella's party guests at her SoHo store opening last night. The celebrity party guests, a crowd that included Kanye and Lady Gaga, showed their support for Versace in a range of the label's high-impact wares. Even Alexa Chung, who doesn't exactly strike us as a high-drama Versace girl, embraced the night's theme, albeit tempered with her own charm, in a burgundy leather skirt by Versace's younger line, Versus. Meanwhile, the supermodel contingent, including Coco Rocha and Bar Refaeli, took a page right out of Donatella's book, as did Jennifer Hudson, who joined the leather-clad crew of models in a fit-and-flare skirt and knee-high boots. They may not have been in the same room, or even at the same event, but at their respectively glamorous NYC parties, both Crystal Renn and Hilary Rhoda opted for dresses by the same designer, friend Zac Posen. In fact, Hilary Rhoda not only wore his gown, but took Zac as her date to Harry Winston's dinner. Meanwhile, Crystal Renn, Zac's longtime friend and muse, opted for a brilliant fuchsia, bustier-style gown, offset with turquoise Lorraine Schwartz jewels for an evening out at the Angel Ball. Hilary kept it a tad more understated, choosing a sleek Fall-appropriate burgundy strapless and finishing with a side-swept bun. If you ask us, both supermodels did Zac Posen proud — but we're turning it over to you: who's the winner of this supermodel showdown?

Elle's annual Women in Hollywood celebration is just that — a celebration of the biggest names in the business and a culmination of our favorite style setters. With Calvin Klein cosponsoring the affair, you might suspect that several of the attendees opted for the label's minimalist line of dress, and you'd be right — just look to SJP in a Calvin Klein Spring '13 strapless — but that didn't stop fashion favorites from showing off a few other choice designers, like Emma Stone in a fuchsia Valentino confection. As for the most dramatic of the night's arrivals, Lea Michele pulled out all the stops in a sheer-striped Zimmermann gown, proving just how much the dress code varied among this bevy of TV stars, Hollywood heavyweights, and fashion A-listers.
