X Factor pals Alexandra Burke and Ruth Lorenzo swapped their warm jumpers at Heathrow Airport for bikinis and cute coverups on the beach in Mauritius. The flat-mates have been splashing about in the sea, taking pedalo rides and sipping on cocktails during their holiday. Alex looks like she hasn't a care in the world, even though reports suggest Rihanna banned Alex from an after-party following Chris Brown's O2 gig earlier this month. Lady GaGa has also had a dig at Alex, saying: "If you win a TV show and you have a hit record you sort of have a false understanding of what it means to earn success. The shows are set up for a winner — for someone to win. Whereas with someone like me, who writes my own songs, you have to set yourself up to win". At least Alex has Ruth plus the Mauritius sun on her side.

Alexandra Burke and her fellow X Factor contestant and flat mate Ruth Lorenzo were full of smiles at Heathrow Airport yesterday, as they escaped the cold British weather for a holiday in Mauritius. With her career going from strength to strength, with "Hallelujah" still flying high at number one for another week, Alex has decided to focus on work rather than men, telling Closer magazine: "I've never found anyone good enough for me. I always get backstabbed by my exes, so now I don't want a man for as long as possible. I won't be dating anyone for the next year if I can help it. It won't be difficult not having a boyfriend as relationships suck." Sounds like a girly holiday is just what's in order, before Alex continues to be one to watch in 2009.

• Michael Jackson's spokesman has denied claims he needs a lung transplant due to a rare respiratory disease. In his statement, he calls writer Ian Halperin's claims about Michael's health, which also allege he can barely speak, suffers from emphysema and internal bleeding, and has failing vision in his left eye, a "total fabrication". • Robbie Williams' mum, Jan, is recovering well from four-and-a-half hour heart bypass operation after doctors found a diseased artery that could have killed her. With Alexandra Burke's debut single an incredible success and now sat at number one in the charts, it was time for all her fellow contestants to get together for The X Factor wrap party at Movida in London last night. Alexandra kept in elegant in her LBD, while Ruth Lorenzo played up to her fiery spirit in a bright red dress. Diana Vickers wore her trusty cape coat (see FabUK's suggestions on how to copy it here) over a feathery dress, and she's in this week's issue of Grazia magazine looking stunning in a variety of designer clothes and posing with Agyness Deyn's best mate, designer Henry Holland! I can't wait to see what they all do next!

Reality TV stars came out en masse last night for OK Magazine's Christmas Party at The Living Room in London. Big Brother provided the largest number of attendees, including this year's lovebirds Rex and Nicole plus Mario and Lisa, who wore a rather revealing top. They were joined by Mikey, Now magazine's sexy santa Stuart, and Dale, who's continuing to do his bit for reality show relations by dating Shipwrecked's Naomi Millbank-Smith. Previous season's BB contestants like Aisleyne, Sam and Amanda, Imogen, Nikki, Ziggy, and Grace and Mikey also partied alongside The X Factor's Ruth and Neighbours' Ned aka Dan O'Connor. Interesting hairdos were on display at the Russian Wonderland-themed Capital Rocks! event in London's Battersea Park yesterday, held in aid of Help A London Child. The X Factor's latest reject Ruth Lorenzo went for big hair, and Sharleen Spiteri let her hair down for a change to show off her long locks, while Caprice looked like she was channeling Cameron Diaz's quiff from There's Something About Mary! Johnny Vaughan joked with his Capital FM partner-in-crime Lisa Snowdon, who was also joined by her Strictly Come Dancing partner Brendan Cole. The pair danced for the celebrity audience, which inlcuded Amanda Lamb and her blossoming baby bump.

It's an exciting time for Lily Allen right now, and that was shown in the huge grin on her face as she stepped out in London yesterday. She announced her latest UK tour a couple of days ago, and the tickets went on sale for all the dates this morning. The tour kicks off in Glasgow in March, and finishes back in London at the end of that month. Lily's also spoken out on the hot topic in the UK right now — The X Factor — she supported birthday girl Britney Spears' performance on the show at the weekend on Scott Mills' show on Radio 1, and blogged about how unfair she thought it was that Ruth Lorenzo left, with a subtle dig at Diana Vickers. Everyone's talking about it!

It's time for The X Factor!

Following the fun of Take That week last week, this week it's Britney week (yay!) featuring Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus, and it's all about to kick off on ITV1.

I'll be popping in and out of the comments thread to chat during the first live show at 7.35pm until 9.15pm, then we'll all take the break between the shows, and then get right back on The X Factor discussion when the second show starts at 10.15pm until 10.45pm.
